Network speeds are usually slow, which may affect browsing experience and download speeds

May sometimes experience unstable or interrupted connections

Orbot is an app that provides a free VPN and proxy service enabling other applications to securely access the internet. The app utilizes Tor to encrypt internet traffic and obscure it by routing it through various computers worldwide. Tor, an open network and free software, helps safeguard personal freedom, privacy, confidential business dealings, relationships, and state security from network surveillance practices like traffic analysis.

Attractive points:

★ Traffic Privacy

All app traffic is encrypted when routed through the Tor network, ensuring the highest level of security and privacy.

★ Prevent Snooping

Your app usage and activities are shielded from prying eyes, preventing interference or monitoring.

★ No Logging

Your internet traffic history and IP address are not centrally logged by your network provider or app servers.

Orbot stands out as the sole app offering a truly private online connection. According to The New York Times, "when data comes in via Tor, its origin remains anonymous."

Step by Step ➡️Configure Orbot on Android

Step 1: First download the Orbot app.

Step 2: Once the app is installed on your device, open it from the app menu.

Step 3: On the screen, you will see a green button that says "Start". Tap this button to activate the Tor network connection on your Android device.

Step 4: After a few seconds, Orbot will establish a secure connection through the Tor network and display a message indicating that you are connected.

Step 5: Now that you have activated Orbot, you can start using apps that use the Tor network to protect your online privacy. For example, you can open the web browser Tor Browser or any other app that is compatible with the Tor network.

Step 6: To disable Orbot, simply return to the app and tap the green button that now says "Stop". This will close the connection to the Tor network and restore your normal internet connection.

Limitations of Orbot on Android

- When using Orbot, your browsing speed may be reduced due to routing through the Tor network.

- Not all apps are compatible with Orbot, so not all traffic can be directed through it.

- Some sites or services may block or limit access for Tor network users.

★ NO ALTERNATIVES: Orbot serves as the official Tor VPN for Android, and instead of directly connecting you as traditional VPNs or proxies do, it routes your encrypted traffic through numerous global computers. Although this method may take slightly longer, the top-tier privacy and identity protection it offers make the delay worthwhile.

★ UNIVERSAL PRIVACY: Orbot shields onlookers from accessing your app usage details or visited websites. To external observers monitoring network traffic, your use of Tor is the only discernible action.

My experience with Orbot was good at first, but now it's been disappointing. The speeds are really slow or nonexistent, and the circuits keep breaking every minute. It's not looking good unless there's a quick fix! I don't see that happening though. I've also noticed a lack of updates, which is probably why it keeps breaking.
