Which programs can I watch and for how long?

How long the ORF can offer programs online is regulated by the ORF law. While it used to be only 7 days, since January 1, 2024 the ORF can also provide videos in ORF ON for longer.

The following legally defined time periods apply:

- Current information: up to 30 days

- Films and series: up to six months

- Documentaries: possible indefinitely

- How long videos can actually be online also depends on the license and online rights for the respective program.

Why does the video stutter or break off?

On the way from the ORF server to your device, bottlenecks in the internet connection can occur.

This means that the data cannot be transmitted at the necessary data rate and "stuttering" occurs. This effect cannot be influenced by the ORF.

Which browsers can I use to use ORF ON on the web?

You can use all common browsers that support DRM (Digital Rights Management):

- Google Chrome

- Mozilla Firefox

- Apple Safari

- Microsoft Edge

Internet Explorer can no longer be used and Opera is not supported either.

How do you set the quality level of the video?

The quality level of the player is automatically selected in ORF ON.

If you have a lot of bandwidth available, you will see the video in better quality. If you are in a place with a poor internet connection, a lower quality will be played so that you can still see the video as smoothly as possible.
