How to edit the map in Organic Maps?

With Organic Maps, you can easily add missing places to the map, add additional details like opening hours, or fix wrong entries. By doing this, you improve the map data for all users.

As OpenStreetMap(OSM) is the primary source of map data in Organic Maps, the edits you make are sent to OSM. OSM is a community project to build a free and open map. It works similarly to Wikipedia, so everything you edit becomes available to millions of users all over the world. Join the community and help to make a better map for everyone!

To edit OpenStreetMap from your Organic Maps app:

1. Create an account at OpenStreetMap.org

2. Log into your account in Organic Maps (burger icon -> settings -> OpenStreetMap-Profile)

3. Now you can edit existing places or add new ones

Edit existing place

- select the place by taping on the map icon

- tap edit place

- Add additional information

- Save your changes and exit using the check arrow

Add a place to the map

- burger icon -> Add a place to the OpenStreetMap

- Select the location as accurately as you can and press the check arrow

- Select a category

Can't find a category that fits? Then create an OSM Note.

- Add additional information like the name, opening hours, and website

- Save your changes and exit using the check arrow

Note that the editor is designed as a simple POI editor and, therefore, limited to POIs. You can, e.g., not add roads, lakes, building outlines, etc. Moreover moving places to a new location is not possible. If you can't edit something with Organic Maps, take a look at the More advanced map editing page.

Had a great trip to Romania! Enjoyed the sights and sounds. Ran into a little issue with my Android car radio. When I zoomed in on the map, everything switched to dark mode. The colors changed, but the track color stayed the same. It made it tough to see where I was going. Fortunately, when I turned off the 3D buildings, the bug disappeared. My phone worked fine throughout the trip.

Maps.Me had its glory days. Those times brought freedom with unlimited map downloads. They lost their way by adding unnecessary features and cluttering the interface. If you seek great offline navigation on your smartphone, grab this app. Perfect for walking, hiking, and cycling adventures. Enjoy the simplicity and efficiency.

Organic Maps guided me and my friend through the snowy Swedish mountains. A sudden snowstorm hit, turning our adventure into a real challenge. We lost network connection for most of the time. Everything around us was blanketed in white. Organic Maps became our lifeline to find the trail back home safely. Misfortunes piled up. Snow fell heavily, wind whipped at our faces, and the infamous Swedish winter darkness enveloped us. My phone battery teetered on the brink of dying. I switched to flight mode, keeping battery drain to a minimum. Miraculously, Organic Maps kept working without a hitch. It provided enough detail for precise navigation using GPS. The trail vanished under the snow, but we relied on GPS to stay on course. OpenStreetMap data proved invaluable. Compare Fulufjället National Park on Google Maps with its version on OpenStreetMap; you'll see the difference. If you plan to explore remote areas and want to avoid getting lost, Organic Maps is the way to go. It proved its worth when our safety depended on it.

This hiking app shines as the top choice for outdoor adventures. It excels in off-the-grid navigation too. Forget about spending money on paid options. This one helps you explore while backing the free and open-source software community.

Every day, this app brings me joy. Hoping it keeps that minimalistic UI like Maps.me back in the good old days before things changed. One thing irritates me though. When I add a stop to my route, the map zooms out completely. It’s frustrating and not what I need.
