About Us
The story of our brand began in 1950 with two separate companies founded by Mois and Yasef Kariyo brothers. In this period when industrialization was limited in our country, the fact that two entrepreneurial brothers united their strengths under one roof was an important turning point for all of us. Our brand, which took the name Öğretmen Çorap in 1970, continued to develop with our first production facility established in Istanbul Bayrampaşa a year later. The change of our brand name to Öğretmen Çorap was based on the fact that thin women's socks were generally preferred by teachers in Türkiye at that time.
In the 1980s, the second generation representative of the family, Sami Kariyo, took over the wheelhouse of our brand. Our brand, which also focused on the needs of urban women, further reinforced its production approach that emphasized color, pattern, variety and quality. Thus, while we strengthened our position in the market, we also reached the final stage of the branding process in 1984 and took the name Penti.
Our Brands
At Penti, we renew our collections in parallel with the speed of change in fashion trends. Penti has completely different collections for women, men, and young people. Ma Vie Privée, Penti Young and Penti Men are aimed at more adult women, men, and young consumers who have grown up with the brand.
Our History
1991
We revolutionized the market with “Fit15” Pantyhose by successfully using Lyca for the first time in thin women's hosiery.
1994
Over the years, we have continued to grow and continue our activities in the production and retail sector by adding children's socks, men's socks, home wear, underwear, bikinis, swimsuits and beachwear to thin women's socks. When our production facilities began to fail to meet this growth, we established the Teacher Socks Factory in Çorlu in 1994. We equipped this factory with the latest technology. In this facility, which can produce at international standards, we produce 86 million pairs of socks per year today.
1995
We produced the first functional socks that make women look slim.
1999
We opened the first Penti store chain in Istanbul. In addition, we have been selling our Penti branded products in our store chain since 1999. Women love us. According to research, we maintain the distinction of being the most recognized and most loved women's brand in Türkiye with 99.6 percent brand awareness and 78 percent brand loyalty.
2006
We have more than 300 stores in 60 provinces in Türkiye and 106 stores in 29 different countries abroad. We are increasing this number every day. We have sales offices in England, Italy and China. We provide Penti clothing to people of all nationalities, especially in the Balkan countries, as well as in many parts of the world, from America to Saudi Arabia, from England to Mongolia. We do this as one of the top 3 manufacturers in Europe. We are also the manufacturer of many world-famous brands.
For the first time in the sock industry, we started using celebrities as brand ambassadors in our advertisements.
2007
We opened our online store.
penti.com
2009
We ranked 106th among Türkiye's second 500 largest companies.
2011
We were rewarded for our social responsibility projects for women. All these successes and our speed of development also attracted the attention of foreign investors. In 2012, our partnership with the Carlyle Group, one of the world's largest investment funds, further reinforced our goal of creating a global Turkish brand.
2013
We took our place among Türkiye's 500 largest industrial enterprises. We renewed our logo and corporate color.
2014
By winning the TURQUALITY certificate, we took an important step towards promotion and branding abroad, after Türkiye.
2015
We combined field and management models. We developed a Special Production Management System (Total Productive Management) to increase efficiency.
2016
We received the Inovalig award for the total productive management system. We developed the system architecture by applying 3C and I-COM to establish a direct line between the store and the customers. This year we also developed the digitalization process. E-commerce became the best store, there was growth in social media accounts. We were awarded for direct marketing and the best use of technology by Felis.
Our goal now is to further strengthen our position in the hosiery market, where we are the clear leader, and to continue our leadership in underwear and swimsuit retailing, as well as hosiery. To be a global brand originating from Türkiye and to be the 'lovebrand' of women abroad as well as in Türkiye.
