FAQ:

What is Pi?

Pi Network is essentially a globally accessible online blockchain ecosystem that makes use of “Pi” – a new cryptocurrency for and by everyday people that you can “mine” on your phone for free with simplicity. Cryptocurrencies are a new form of digital money maintained and secured by a community, instead of by governments or banks. Today, you can mine Pi by making diverse contributions to the ecosystem, namely, helping to secure the blockchain, grow Pi’s trusted network, run a Node, and engage with the Pi app ecosystem. While most cryptocurrencies (like Bitcoin) have been very hard for everyday people to use and access, Pi puts the power of cryptocurrency into the palm of your hand.

How can the mining of Pi crypto be free? Are you using my phone resources?

Allowing Pioneers to mine Pi cryptocurrency for free is a conscious network choice in service of ensuring accessibility to cryptocurrency to people regardless of their financial background. In fact, 65% of the entire Pi supply will be available for mining by Pioneers for free, which is a substantial share for the community in the blockchain space.

Pi Network does NOT use your phone’s resources – hardware, network, or anything else. The main Pi app and the Pi Browser app uses as much phone battery just as any other regular app. Please refer to the next answer to understand why Pi mining does not consume your phone resources.

What is the utility of Pi?

Pi’s utility will be backed by the time, attention, goods, and services offered by other members of the network in exchange for Pi. By pooling our attention, goods and services around a common currency, Pi’s members are building the network together. Because this is a network supported by blockchain technology, the network can help its members reduce their costs and prevent slippage that typically goes to banks, technology giants (e.g., Facebook, Amazon) and other intermediaries. Today, we are laying the infrastructure for this digital currency and for a utilities-driven app ecosystem by distributing the currency, building the community, developing the technology to ensure its security and designing new types of online social experience.

This mining app is really simple to use. You just have to get an invite code to start using it. Remember to reset the timer every 24 hours to keep mining. I believe you can't go wrong with this app, as it's free and requires absolutely no effort or power from your end. After three days, it will guide you to download the PI Browser to set up your wallet. Hopefully, the value goes up to $1 in the future. If you want, feel free to use my invite code "cointhephrases."

I've been trying to finish the KYC verification process for a while now, but I'm having trouble with the in-app camera on my new phone. I've taken many clear and easy-to-read photos of my ID outside of the app, but for some reason, the ones taken within the app don't meet their quality standards. I think if they just let a human check the photo instead of relying solely on automated assessment, it would solve this problem.

The new update seems pretty cool, and I've noticed that the browsing speed has gotten faster, which is great! However, there's still room for improvement. It would be really nice to have features like bookmarks and an overall dark mode for the entire app. It'd be awesome if you could incorporate more of these features in the future updates.

I had a really frustrating experience with this app. I tried multiple times to complete my KYC, but it always failed. Each time, I had to do the tasks required for KYC like smiling at the camera, looking left, right, up, and down. However, despite doing all this, the KYC process still couldn't be completed. The Pi browser's core team really needs to address and fix this issue.

I'm having trouble figuring out if I'm actually logged in right now. The app I'm using doesn't have any settings or menu options, which usually helps me check my account status. All there is are a back button and a home button, nothing else really. I can't even find the other apps that usually come with this one. When I tap the sign-in button within the app, it just takes me to a link for downloading it from the Google Play website, even though I already have it installed. I tried changing it to my default browser to follow the sign-in link, but the option doesn't appear on the list of browsers I can choose from.

Don't worry, I've got a little request for the core team. I'd love it if they could figure out a way to make Pi browser available for download on Huawei phones from 2020 onwards. I also have a Huawei phone, but mine is from 2019. You see, newer Huawei phones don't support Playstore, which makes it really hard to download the Pi browser using the Pi mining app. The problem is that the download always tries to go through the Playstore, which doesn't work on Huawei phones from 2020 and above. So, core team, could you please look into this issue as soon as possible?

This app I started using in 2019 turned out to be a big scam. I tried to do my KYC in 2023, and after completing it, they sent coins to my wallet. Unfortunately, after 6 months, they blocked access to my wallet. For the past 2 weeks, every time I tried to open the Pi Browser, it kept showing an error message saying "Try again". I saved my passphrase in 5 to 6 other places but none of them worked. I am so confused about what happened. All the hard work and struggle I put into this for 6 years feels like it's all gone now. It's really disappointing and heartbreaking. This application is definitely the worst and a complete scam. Such a waste of time! 😩😭😭😭😩
