IMPORTANT:

The PrintHand app is NOT FREE. To print real pages, you’ll need to upgrade to Premium Mode by making an in-app purchase. We recommend printing a free test page before upgrading.

NOTE: 

Due to an update to the Permissions policy on Google Play, we had to remove the SMS and Call log printing features from our app. We are working to resolve this issue and hope to bring back these features once we obtain the necessary permissions from Google. Stay tuned for updates on the app.

Is PrintHand free?

PrintHand Mobile Print application is free to install.

With the free PrintHand Mobile Print app you can check compatibility with your printer by printing a test page (doing so is highly recommended) and choose the right printing options. However, you cannot go beyond printing the test page.

In order to print real pages you'll need to upgrade to the Premium Mode. You can do so from within the application and will be prompted to do so right before printing. You can also upgrade in advance or purchase the PrintHand Mobile Print Premium app right from the marketplace corresponding to your device. It's a one-time charge which includes all future updates.

Do I need a computer in order to print from mobile device?

No, you don't need a computer in most cases.

If you have a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth printer, you can print directly from mobile device to it without a computer being involved. You can also connect the printer via USB cable if the device supports USB host functionality available on Android 4.0 and above.

If your printer is a part of local network and is already connected to a computer, print server or hub you can print to it as well.

When do I need to install PrintHand computer software?

If you print directly from a mobile device on a compatible printer via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB or by sharing it on the network using standard Windows or Mac tools, you don't need our computer software - PrintHand Client. However, if you run into any compatibility or quality issues, you may consider installing PrintHand Client available on Mac and PC. In this case we rely on a Windows, Mac or Linux driver for your printer versus the one running on mobile device. This guarantees you can print from a mobile device, as long as you can print from a computer. For more information on printing options please visit our Help Section

Does my data go outside my network prior to printing?

No, your data travels directly from your mobile device to the selected printer, possibly through your computer the printer is connected to. One exception to this is Google Cloud printing which requires the data to be sent to the cloud, consequently received by your computer or printer.

Why PrintHand requires so many privileges on the device?

PrintHand requires access to your messages, personal information, network communication and other important privileges for printing purposes only. The app asks the OS of your mobile device for these permissions to print your information which may be found almost anywhere - from the internal memory of the mobile device to email or cloud services.

Access to your account information is required for Gmail, Google Docs and Google Cloud Print. You'll be asked to allow all these permissions during installation, regardless whether or not you use all the services.

What emails can I print?

You can print emails and attachments directly from PrintHand. On Android, Gmail functionality is built-in and you can easily connect to your account from within PrintHand, then print. For other email providers such as Yahoo, AOL, Hotmail, etc. a few configuration steps are required. Alternatively you can open your email in a browser and print it as a web page.

With PrintHand, you can print the following content:

- Office documents (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF)

- Text files and popular file types

- Photos and images

- Web pages, emails, and attachments

- Google Drive content

- Events from Calendar app

- Contacts

- Facebook albums

- Files from Dropbox

- Files from Box;

- Files from OneDrive;

- Files from Creative Cloud;

- Files from SugarSync;

- Notes from Evernote

- Content shared from other apps

Print to Mac or Windows shared printers, Workgroup, Domain, and Active Directory. Print directly via USB cable from Android 4.0 and above. Share the printer with our free software for Mac and PC from printhand.com to print from any printer.

You can print via:

- Wi-Fi (using Wi-Fi Direct printer or Wi-Fi router as a middle man)

- Bluetooth

- USB (if USB OTG is fully supported by your device with Android 4.0+ installed)

Use our Printer Setup Wizard for automatic printer detection and configuration guidance. You can also scan documents directly from selected multifunction printers to your device (beta mode).

For unlimited printing, purchase the premium app or make an in-app purchase in the free app. Test printing is available in the free app.

Printer Setup Wizard

It is a good place to start working with a new printer if you are not familiar with PrintHand application yet. Just go through several easy steps to detect and setup your printer.

1. Launch the PrintHand app on your mobile device

2. Tap Manage Printers button (or the name of the printer currently selected), select Manage Printers option in the drop-down menu and tap Printer Setup Wizard button located in the bottom of the said menu

3. After that you will see the Choosing your printer dialog which will guide you through the printer configuration process

4. Finally you should be able to print on the printer by selecting content from the app’s main menu or by sharing content to the PrintHand app from 3rd party apps
