RaiPlay Sound is the new free multimedia platform from Rai dedicated to listening. It offers original audio podcasts, available for streaming and offline listening, as well as live streaming and on-demand listening of programs airing on the 12 Rai radio channels.

Description of RaiPlay Sound: radio e podcast

The catalog of available titles is enriched with archive content, audio descriptions of movies and TV series, and podcasts of the most well-known Rai TV programs. RaiPlay Sound, also available for Wear OS, is easy to use and does not require registration for streaming live channels or most of the on-demand audio content. However, we invite you to register and log in with your Rai account to utilize additional features that will personalize your platform usage experience and allow you to listen offline to your favorite podcasts.

RaiPlay Sound replaces the RaiPlay Radio app; if you already have a Rai account that you used on RaiPlay Radio or RaiPlay or RaiPlay YoYo, you can continue using it on RaiPlay Sound. If this is your first time accessing Rai's multimedia platforms, register by creating your Rai account.

Ways to Use

On the top part of the RaiPlay Sound homepage or from the "Channels" section, you can easily access the live streaming of the 12 Rai Radio channels (Rai Radio 1, Rai Radio 2, Rai Radio 3, Isoradio, Rai Radio1 Sport, Rai Radio 2 Indie, Rai Radio 3 Classica, Rai Gr Parlamento, Rai Radio Kids, Rai Radio Live, Rai Radio Techetè, Rai Radio Tutta Italiana). By selecting a live channel, you can also view the schedule for the current day and the following week, and listen again to episodes aired in the last 7 days.

From the radio live player, if the program has already started, you can listen from the beginning and switch back to the live feed by selecting the appropriate icon; you can switch to car mode, change the live channel, view the schedule for upcoming events, share the live stream, access information and podcasts about the program on air, and set a sleep timer.

In the "Explore" section, you can search for content of interest (by title and keywords) and discover the range of titles in the catalog organized by genres and subgenres for streaming.

By logging in, you can add your favorite podcast titles through the "Follow" feature, select downloadable content in the app to listen offline, share the content you are listening to (even from a specific minute), move to the next episode, and add it to your playlist. You can also use the new "Bookmark" feature to add a marker at a specific point in the content you are listening to, add a note, and easily find it in the "My Podcasts > Bookmarks" section (for quick access or sharing).

In the "My Podcasts" section, you can manage and modify the history of content you have started listening to (to easily resume from where you left off), the podcasts you follow, bookmarks, playlists you have created, app downloads, and use the alarm function.

In the "More" section, you can access the management of your personal Rai account, FAQs, the "Contact Us" form, and set the device settings related to the use of RaiPlay Sound (wifi only or also on mobile data).

How do I find a podcast on RaiPlay Sound?

To search for a specific podcast, you can use the free search function available:

   - at the top right of the browser;

   - in the “Explore” section of the app.

Type the name of the podcast or Rai program you want to listen to and press enter to view the results.

If you want to explore and discover the titles available in the catalog, you can use the paths by genre available on the platform (on the homepage or from the “Explore” section).

If you have logged in with your Rai account, once you have found the title/podcast you are interested in, you can add it to your personalized playlists, add it to the podcasts you follow and, if you are using the RaiPlay Sound App mobile, you can also activate notifications and download it in the app.

Where can I find all the available podcasts of my favorite Rai Radio program?

By browsing the platform, using the free search or the explore section, you can view the podcast/program card you are interested in.

In each card you will find the list of audio content available in streaming on demand (full episodes, clips, extras, playlists).

If you have logged in on the mobile app, you will also see the icons to add the audio content to your custom playlists or download it in the app.

What is History?

After logging in to RaiPlay Sound with your Rai account, in the personal area “My Podcasts” you will see the “History” section.

In this section you will find a list of your latest listenings and, if you have not finished listening to an episode, you can continue playing it from the point where you stopped.

What are bookmarks and how do you use them?

The Bookmark feature allows you to quickly find a specific point in an audio, so you can easily find it for a second listen or to share it. If you are listening to a content, using the “Add Bookmark” feature available on the interface of the RaiPlay Sound on-demand audio player, you can save it among the Bookmarks available in the “My Podcasts” > Bookmarks area and, when you Create/Save it, you can also add a personal note.

You will find all the bookmarks you have created in the bookmarks section of the “My podcasts” area.

The RaiPlay Sound app is available for free on Android devices from version 5 onwards (tablets, smartphones, smartwatches).
