This tool app offers the functionality to alter screen orientation and rotation independently of the characteristics of the active application.

Users can choose to lock the screen in a specific orientation or allow it to rotate based on device sensors.

Screen orientation adjustments can be made directly from the notification area. It is also possible to link a particular application with a fixed screen orientation and have the settings change automatically upon launching the app.

It should be noted that certain devices may not support all available settings due to restrictions on screen orientations.

As this app forcefully changes how an application is displayed, there is a risk of malfunction or even crashing of the device.

Therefore, users are advised to use the app at their own discretion and accept full responsibility for any issues that may arise. Additionally, refrain from contacting the app developer for support as it may be deemed disruptive.

How the app operates:

This application overlays a user interface (UI) above regular apps.

The UI is transparent, has no dimensions, and cannot be interacted with by the user. By adjusting the screen orientation through the UI layer, it takes precedence over visible apps, signaling the operating system to prioritize its instructions.

Upon closure, the app remains in the background to ensure the UI persists, hence why it appears in the notification bar. This is a requirement under Android rules for apps to stay active in the background.

Due to this operational structure, certain limitations exist:

- The app cannot hide the notification bar, even if requested; this is enforced by the system.

- Excessive battery usage attributed to the app may prompt termination by the system. Configuring power-saving options on the device could help avoid frequent app shutdowns.

- The presence of the overlaid UI may be considered suspicious behavior by the system, potentially leading to warnings or restricted operations.

- Compatibility issues may arise when using this app alongside others that display overlays, impacting functionality.

Settings available within the app include:

unspecified

- Device remains in original orientation of the displayed app

portrait

- Screen locked in portrait mode

landscape

- Screen locked in landscape mode

rev port

- Screen locked in reverse portrait mode

rev land

- Screen locked in reverse landscape mode

full sensor

- Automatic rotation in all orientations based on device sensors (system control)

sensor port

- Portrait orientation with auto-flip enabled by device sensors

sensor land

- Landscape orientation with auto-flip enabled by device sensors

lie left

- 90-degree left rotation relative to sensors, aligning the top and bottom while lying on the left side

lie right

- 90-degree right rotation relative to sensors, aligning the top and bottom while lying on the right side

headstand

- 180-degree rotation relative to sensors, aligning the top and bottom during a headstand position

full

- Automatic rotation in all orientations based on device sensors (app control)

forward

- Rotation only in forward orientations based on device sensors

reverse

- Rotation only in reverse orientations based on device sensors

Troubleshooting tips:

If unable to fix orientation issues in portrait/landscape mode, attempt changing the system setting to enable auto-rotate.

Using Guide

When you download the Screen Orientation Control application, you're taking command over how your device displays its content, giving you the flexibility to alter the orientation of your screen to suit your preferences or circumstances. The main purpose of Screen Orientation Control is to manage and customize screen rotation and orientation beyond what is typically allowed by other apps or your device's default settings.

It empowers users to lock their screens in a particular orientation or allow them to rotate freely based on the device's sensor. The convenience factor is that changes to your screen's orientation can be made directly from the notification area, and you can even pre-set specific orientations for individual apps, switching automatically when you launch them.

Despite the array of settings available, some orientations might not be supported by every device—this is an important aspect to consider. As it overrides default settings, there is a small risk of some applications becoming unresponsive or even crashing, and users are advised to utilize the functionality judiciously.

The program operates by overlaying a transparent and untouchable User Interface (UI) above all other apps, which takes priority in terms of screen orientation commands issued to the operating system. This overlay means that there will always be an icon present in your notification area, as Android rules mandate this for any app running in the background.

If you encounter issues with fixing the orientation in one direction, adjusting your system settings to 'auto-rotate' might resolve the problem. Ultimately, Screen Orientation Control is poised to elevate your device usability, offering a personalized and more dynamic screen experience.

Using Experience

Screen Orientation Control is a utility app for Android that allows users to change screen orientation and rotation settings. Users can fix the screen in a specific orientation or allow it to rotate based on the device's sensor. The app provides the option to change screen orientation directly from the notification area. Additionally, users can associate specific applications with customized screen orientation settings, which will adjust automatically when the associated app is launched. It's important to note that not all settings are universally supported across all devices.

The app works by displaying a transparent, untouchable UI layer above other applications, giving it higher priority to modify screen orientation. It remains resident in the background, displaying its UI in the notification bar even after being closed. However, this mechanism comes with certain limitations, such as being unable to hide the notification bar and potential battery consumption issues. Users may experience warnings or restrictions due to the app's overlay nature, especially when used alongside other apps with similar features.

I used to have an app but it disappeared from the store. I hunted for a new one and found this great replacement. It works smoothly and is easy to use. It would be nice if there was a paid version without ads so I could support the developer. However, you only see ads when you start the app, so it's not a big deal.

The app does what it's supposed to do quite well. I appreciate the effort put into it. It would be great if opt-in video ads could be included for users who want to support the developer. Making it optional is important.

I found an app that allows your phone to rotate 180 degrees so you can charge it upside down without the plug blocking you. Hope this works for you!

You just set up the app and it seems to be working fine, though you haven't tested it with many apps yet. There's an option where you can choose 5 controls out of a list of eleven to have on a control bar, which can also be accessed through a widget. It would be nice to have six controls: one for each orientation, one for full sensor mode, and another one to follow the device's default orientation. Another idea is to combine portrait and reverse portrait functions into a single toggle portrait control, and do the same for the two landscape functions, so you could have all your 6 functions in just 4 buttons. The other options in the app include 'sensor portrait' (which automatically switches between the two portrait orientations), 'sensor landscape', 'lie left', 'lie right', and 'headstand', which seem to be for controlling orientation when the phone is lying flat. If you find the control bar unattractive, you can customize the background and icon colors for both active and inactive controls, affecting both the in-app bar and the widget. There are ads in the app, but they seem to only appear within the app itself, and once you set up everything, the widget should be enough. It would be great to have options in the app for it to activate automatically when headphones or charger are connected, especially since this is when you'd most likely want the reverse portrait mode. Also, having an option to exclude the homescreen from changing to landscape mode could be helpful since your homescreen doesn't work well in that orientation. If these suggestions are implemented, if you get your desired 6th function on the bar, and if the app remains stable, then you'll give it a 5-star rating.

This thing goes above and beyond. It needs a separate section for steps on each task. But, it's great for managing the screen's appearance.

I'm glad you like the app! It's really handy for keeping your phone in the right orientation. Some apps can be annoying and still rotate when you don't want them to, even if you've turned off the auto rotate setting. This app helps you keep everything in portrait mode, even when you're lying in bed using your phone.

I tried like 10 different apps to find one that works smoothly without any issues. Finally, I found this app about 3 months ago and let me tell you, it works perfectly every time. I highly recommend it! 💯
