Seoul Metropolitan Government operates a public bike sharing system called Seoul Bike-Ttareungyi through its dedicated mobile app. The app allows users to sign up, purchase passes, rent and return bikes, as well as check for bike station locations.
This initiative was developed to promote the use of bicycles as a mode of daily transportation in order to address traffic congestion, air pollution, and high fuel costs in Seoul. It aims to enhance the quality of life for citizens and create a healthier society.

- 2-Hour Pass: Daily pass for 2,000 KRW / Weekly pass for 4,000 KRW / Monthly pass for 7,000 KRW / 6-Month pass for 20,000 KRW / Annual pass for 40,000 KRW
01.Purchasing Passes
Passes can be purchased through the 'Seoul Bike' website or the 'Seoul Bike-Ttareungyi' app. Download and install the app from your smartphone's app store.
02.Renting a Bike
- Scan the QR code to access and use a Ttareungyi bike.
03.Safe Riding
Before riding, ensure that the brakes, tires, and chain are properly functioning.
For safety, wear a helmet and other safety gear, and obey traffic laws while riding.
Please avoid using earphones for safe operation.
04.Returning a Bike
Bikes can be returned at any Seoul Bike station in the city.
Once you lock the bike, the return process is completed.

User Guide
How do I rent a bike?
○ Bicycles can be used by both members and non-members. However, non-members can only purchase a one-day pass. (Non-members: can rent after purchasing a pass)
○ Tap 'Rent' in the app and scan the QR code on the device.
* If the QR code cannot be scanned, please enter the 5-digit bicycle number next to the right pedal of the bicycle.
○ When the lock opens automatically, the bike rental is complete.
※ Please activate the Bluetooth and GPS functions of your mobile phone.
※ If you pair a wireless device other than a bicycle (wireless earphones, smartwatch, etc.), you may not be able to rent a bicycle.
※ If the screen turns black after clicking 'Rent' and the QR code is not scanned,Please make sure that the camera function is enabled in "Settings > Application > Permissions > Permissions".
How do I return my bike?
○ Regardless of where you rented it, you can return it to the nearest rental place.
○ After placing the bicycle on the rental station, pull the lock on the rear wheel to lock it.
- You must confirm the completion of the return through the bicycle return notification (notification in the app, notification talk, text message, etc.).
* If you have not received a return notification, it may not have been returned normally. Please contact the Call Center (1599-0120).
○ If all the return racks are full, please stand as close to the cradle as possible and return it.
- Please be careful not to encroach on the braille blocks or obstruct pedestrians when returning.
I can't unlock temporarily.
○ If the temporary unlock is not solved, most of the time an error occurs in the app settings and the program in the phone.
○ Please try again as follows.
1) Check location information and Bluetooth enabled.
2) Close the app and relaunch it to unlock it temporarily.
3) Turn your phone off and on, then relaunch the app to unlock it temporarily.
FAQ
Can I borrow or return it 24 hours a day?
○ The rental station is open 24 hours a day.
※ However, the service may be temporarily suspended in the event of an abnormal situation such as repair, inspection, failure of the related system, closure of the rental station (temporarily), deterioration of weather conditions, or if it is impossible to provide the service in order to prepare for (recover) such a situation.
Can I use the pass only once?
○ How to use the commuter pass/daily pass (1 hour)
(1) As a rule, it must be returned after use within one hour at a time.
(Example: Rental at 13 o'clock > return within 14 o'clock / Rental at 14 o'clock > Return within 15 o'clock / Can be used repeatedly)
(2) The rental time is 1 hour (60 minutes).
(You can return it within 60 minutes and rent it again for a whole day.
- "No limit on the number of rentals" ※ If you continue to use it after 60 minutes without returning it, you will incur an additional charge of 200 won per 5 minutes!
(If you do not return it for more than 60 minutes and continue to use it for a maximum of 4 hours, it will be considered "theft" after that and report it to the police.)
○ How to use the commuter pass/daily pass (2 hours)
(1) In principle, it must be returned after use within two hours at a time.
(Example: Rental at 13:00 > Return within 15 o'clock / Rental at 15:00 > Return within 17 o'clock / Repeatable)
(2) The rental time is 2 hours (120 minutes).
(You can return it within 120 minutes and rent it again for a whole day)
- "No limit on the number of rentals" ※ If you continue to use it after 120 minutes without returning it, you will be charged an additional fee of 200 won for 5 minutes!
(If you do not return it after 120 minutes, it can only be used for a maximum of 6 hours, after which it will be considered "theft" and reported to the police.)
[Precautions]
(1) You can return the bicycle to a rental location near your current location, not the place where you rented it.
(2) When using a one-day pass or commuter pass, it can be used throughout the day if it is returned within the usage time. (No limit on the number of rentals)
(3) If there is a problem, breakdown, or accident with the bicycle at the time of rental, please contact the call center (1599-0120) and request the collection of the bicycle.
(4) If you are unable to return the bicycle because the rental station rack is full, please stand as close to the rack as possible and return it.
Do I have to return it only to the place where I rented it?
○ Regardless of where you rented it, you can return it to the nearest rental place. However, locking the bicycle in a place that is not a dedicated rental place (temporary lock, etc.) is not a normal return, and it is in a "using" state, and an additional fee will be incurred if it is left unattended for a long time.
○ You can find the nearest rental place by tapping "Nearest rental location" next to the rental on the main screen in the rental status of the rental app.
