What makes the app special
Abundant program resources
Abundant program resources are the basic qualities that a drama app must have, and SeriesGuide is naturally not inferior in this regard.
Click the icon to enter the main interface, swipe left to collapse the sidebar, a "Entry" card is presented in front of us, select Chinese in the "Content Display Language", click Add Program to enter the program search page. Some popular American dramas are recommended below the search bar, and if you look through carefully, it is not difficult to see that SeriesGuide has almost no omissions in American drama resources.
SeriesGuide has a lot of media resources, taking "The Flash" as an example, in addition to the 2014 film starring Grant Gustin, even the old version released in 1990 also includes it, and the integration can be imagined. It should be noted that SeriesGuide is produced by foreign development teams, and the Chinese search ability is relatively weak, so if you want to improve the search hit rate, the author suggests:
1. When searching, try to use the original English name of the TV series instead of the Chinese translation;
2. Clicking directly on the TV series program in the search results will pop up a synopsis card, and then click the plus sign to add the program after confirmation.
Efficient and convenient management mode
To give you a deeper understanding of SeriesGuide, I'm going to add two American dramas as examples, including Arrow, which is still being serialized, and Heroes, which has long since ended.
After the addition is successful, the video will appear on the Home of the app, click the video you want to view to enter the program details, you can see three tabs, including "Program", "Preview" and "Season", where:
"Program" corresponds to the current season of the American drama, such as the broadcast status, broadcast time, broadcast channel, program duration, plot synopsis, and ratings.
"Season" includes the number of seasons that have been broadcast and the overview information of the seasons;
"Preview" shows stills and synopsis of upcoming episodes.
While the categorization is clear enough, SeriesGuide still has room for improvement when it comes to sequencing films. In the case of Arrow Season 3, for example, the most recently updated title would normally be prominently displayed, but SeriesGuide's show details screen shows the first episode of Season 1 by default. To do this, we need to record the first two season goals as watched in order to see the upcoming first episode of the third season in the "Preview" page.
The same method can also be used to chase some older American dramas, such as another "Hero" added by the author. By the way, click on the stills to enter the episode browsing interface, and you can see the episode name, latest stills, and plot synopsis of the episodes that have not yet aired in advance.
At this point, the basic operation of this software has been introduced. And if that's not enough to get you excited, don't worry, there's even more to discover inside the app.
Powerful settings
As a veteran product in its own field, SeriesGuide not only has rich program resources and efficient and convenient program management, but also has complete settings. Click "Settings" in the side slide drawer to open the settings interface, and you can see five categories of setting options.
The "basic" function, in this interface you can adjust the content display language, background updates and traffic control, program display mode and theme, here the author has changed to the SeriesGuide Light theme.
Then there's the helpful and thoughtful "Notifications", where you can have SeriesGuide vibrate and even notify you with a designated ringtone before the episode you're following is about to air.
In the "Services" option, you can unlock premium features for a fee, including the themes mentioned above, push notifications, desktop widgets, and more. Of course, you can also download the SeriesGuide X Pass to unlock all the features directly. Paid users can use the Cloud beta feature here to restore their program listings and viewing progress. If you have a trakt account, you can also link it to SeriesGuide for unified management.
The "Advanced" interface combines backup and restore, manually offset the broadcast time, and clean up the cache, all of which are useful features that have been precipitated by the software's countless version updates.
The "About" option at the end is a bit different from the rest of the apps, in addition to the version number and developer list, it also includes the address of the translation project, a link to the Google+ community, and a channel to suggest feature development and improvements.
Backup and Sync Functionality:
By logging into SeriesGuide Cloud, users can effectively back up and synchronize their show lists and movie preferences.
Trakt Integration:
Users have the option to connect their Trakt account to access personal watchlists, rate content, leave comments, and seamlessly sync watched episodes and movies with other Trakt-compatible apps and media platforms.
Extensions:
Whether utilizing third-party extension buttons or creating custom ones, SeriesGuide offers additional functionality and convenience to users.
Subscription Benefits:
Unlocking all features with a subscription not only provides access to more list widget options and episode notifications but also contributes to ongoing improvements and feature additions within SeriesGuide.
Important Note:
Although the app does not support actual viewing of episodes or movies, it does provide valuable information such as original network release dates for episodes.
