Service NSW is the official NSW app. This utility software allows users to access government services using their mobile phones. You can check and verify digital licenses and credentials, check or renew a registration, and even sign into licensed venues. You can view your demerits and pay your fines from the application. It even comes with a COVID Safe check-in feature, letting you check COVID-safe areas. Be warned, though. This feature does not work all the time.

Is the app any good?

With Service NSW, you do not need to visit any government office or load websites to access licenses. With the application, you can access digital licenses and credentials, including driver's license, recreational fishing licenses, and boat driver's license. Not only that, but you can also verify a digital driver's license using the built-in license checker. As noted, the app also allows you to view your demerits and even pay for fines that you may have. 

More than easily accessing government services, Service NSW also helps protect its users against the Corona Virus pandemic. The app has a COVID Safe check-in feature, which lets you check-in at COVID safe venues. You only need to scan the QR code using your camera to see whether the venue is safe from the virus. Users can also access various COVID 19 resources, such as the Assistance Finder and COVID 19 statistics. 

However, while the app saves you from downloading a separate COVID 19 checker, this feature is not that reliable. The QR code scanner does not work most of the time. More, it is unable to save any details from your previously visited venues. Also, you cannot use other applications while Service NSW is opened. Doing so will automatically reset it to the welcome screen. 

Needs improvement

Service NSW is a handy app to have for any New South Wales resident. It has various tools that can help you access government services safely and easily from your mobile phone. However, while it is helpful and convenient, some of its features are unreliable. The developers need to optimize it further for it to become a utility tool that everyone would want to download and use.
