About the app

Solid Explorer is an intuitive file management application drawing inspiration from classic file commander software. It provides assistance in the following ways:

🗄️ Effortlessly organize files using a dual-pane interface

🔐 Safeguard files with robust encryption measures

🖥️ Oversee files on your cloud storage or network-attached storage (NAS)

☁️ Backup applications and files to any specified location

Explore your device

This app allows you to browse through the files stored on your device, automatically categorizing them into collections for easy access. You can perform actions such as viewing, deleting, moving, renaming, or sharing files. It also features a rapid search functionality with filters for locating files efficiently.

Keep your files safe

Solid Explorer offers strong AES encryption for selected files, placing them in a secure folder that remains inaccessible to other applications. Accessing this folder requires password or fingerprint verification. Even if you remove the application, the files will remain on your device and retain their protection.

Analyze Storage

While there isn’t a specific storage analysis tool included, you can identify which files occupy the most space by examining folder properties of the internal storage or SD card. This will show the percentage of space each folder consumes along with the largest files listed. A search function with a file size filter is also available.

Organize remote files

Solid Explorer incorporates support for various network protocols and cloud service providers, allowing you to manage multiple remote file locations within a single app. Transferring files between cloud services or servers can be done seamlessly by dragging items between panels.

This file explorer has been my favorite for years. No issues at all. Transferring files, copying, pasting, dragging and dropping is a breeze. Adding cloud storage? Super simple. It has a sleek design too. Unlike many others that have that awkward, amateurish feel, this one stands out. The developers really put in the effort to create something functional and visually appealing. It's refreshing to see utility apps finally look good and not like they belong in the past.

I made the switch from ES File Explorer, and it’s been quite frustrating. I can’t play videos directly in the app without relying on third-party options, and many of those don’t have swipe controls for adjusting brightness and volume. Transferring files to the SD card has been a hassle too. Once I’m in internal storage, going back is not an option. I have to rely on the three-dot menu for transfers, which feels slow. Large file transfers often fail, adding to the annoyance. Also, the grid layout with just 4x4 icons isn't practical. It would be so much better with six rows and columns for easier navigation.

New users should know this app is no longer supported. It used to be my favorite file manager. Not anymore though. Now, it can't access the files I need. For instance, I can't move a podcast from the default folder to my podcast folder. Whenever I try to grant access, a message pops up saying, "for your privacy, choose a different folder." I reached out to the developer a few weeks ago, but no reply. This paid app seems to lack any customer service.

I tested a bunch of apps for encrypting and decrypting folders and files. Many of them didn’t perform well. Solid Explorer, though, works perfectly on my Chromebook and Samsung phone. It connects smoothly to Google Cloud and other services I want to use. The side-by-side view is fantastic, and the whole interface feels intuitive. However, when I tried to encrypt and decrypt pictures and videos, I faced issues. Some files remained viewable without any hassle. Others only opened in Solid Explorer, while a few got corrupted. The inconsistencies puzzled me.

I love this file explorer and manager. It’s so clean and easy to use. X-plore might edge it out in some areas, but the find and replace feature with regex in the batch renamer is a game-changer. I rely on it for all my major file renaming tasks. Also, the way it sorts folder contents really stands out. Unlike X-plore and others that organize folders first and files second, this app mixes them based purely on the sorting criteria. That’s just fantastic!

After a long time, I switched from ES. I couldn't handle the ads and Tencent connections anymore. This app is amazing! Paying for the Pro version was totally worth it. Some standout features include file encryption, an audio and video player, and text editing tools that save space on my phone. It connects with almost every cloud provider. Plus, I can customize themes! No more issues with AMOLED displays.

This file explorer looked promising at first. I paid for it, thinking it would be mine to use freely. But things went south during a flight. No Internet connection meant the app suddenly decided I didn't own it anymore. It prompted me to buy it again, leaving me stuck and frustrated. Luckily, the terrible default file manager came to the rescue. I managed to find and open my movie files with it. What a relief!
