The game consists of 4 main areas:

The tableau: Where most of the game takes place. You move the cards around in seven columns

The stock: The pile of cards face down from which you draw.

The waste: Where the cards from the stock will be laid out face up.

The foundation: Where you want all your cards to end up ordered by suit and rank.

The foundation piles are ordered by suit and rank. Each foundation has one suit, and cards must be placed on the foundation in order (ace, one, two, etc.). You can use the following moves to move cards around between the tableau and the foundation:

Move cards from stock to waste: You can choose between a game with either one or three cards turning at a time.

Move a card from waste to a foundation: The card you're moving has to be one rank higher and of a different suit than the card it's being moved onto.

Move a card from waste to a tableau: Again, the rank has to be higher and the suit different.

Move a card from the foundation back to the tableau: If need be, you can move a card from the foundation back onto the tableau.

Move one or more cards from one tableau to another: You can move one or several cards from one column to another on the tableau if the card rank in the column you're moving to is one higher than the card you're placing on to it. Also, the color must be the opposite of the card you're moving.

You can move a tableau card onto the foundations: The card you're moving has to be one rank higher than the top card on the foundation you're moving it to, and it has to be of the same suit. These types of moves happen automatically. You can turn off autoplay under settings.

How to Play Solitaire

Goal of a Solitaire Game

According to the rules, Solitaire is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The goal of the game is to clear the table of all the cards by building them into the four Foundation piles in ascending order, sorted by suit. King is the highest card in the game, while Ace is the lowest.

Are you wondering how to play Solitaire? Let's explore Solitaire's rules and gameplay.

Gameplay

To learn how to play Solitaire and start the game you should be familiar with basic concepts and terms: Foundation, Tableau, Stock, and Waste.

Foundation is the four piles at the top you should build in order to win the game. Cards should be stacked in ascending order and sorted by suit, from Ace through King.

Tableau is where the main gameplay happens. It consists of seven piles of cards. In the beginning of any classic Solitaire game, the first pile has only one faceup card, the second pile has one facedown card on the bottom, and one faceup card on the top, and so on. The seventh pile has six facedown cards and one faceup card at the top.

Stock is a pile of cards which players can use to introduce more cards to the game, when there are no good moves to be made on the Tableau.

Waste is a pile for cards that have been moved from the Stock, but are not playable at the moment.

Solitaire Rules

At the beginning of the game, you need to start creating sequences among the seven piles on the Tableau. You can stack cards only in descending order (King, Queen, Jack, 10 and so on), alternating suit colors (e.g. red, black, red, black and so on). The sequences can be moved from pile to pile. You can always start building a sequence from any card, not necessarily a King.

When you move a faceup card from a pile, a facedown card below turns face up. This is how you uncover the cards on the Tableau while playing Solitaire. Once any of the seven piles on the Tableau is empty, you can put a King or a sequence that starts with a King (and only a King) on the free spot. You can only move around top faceup cards or sequences.

In situations when there are no available moves left on the Tableau, you can always start introducing new cards to the game using the Stock.

Draw Pile

You can choose how to draw cards from the stock. It is easier to play in a mode where you can draw the cards one by one (Draw-1), or you might want to try making the game a bit more challenging by drawing three cards at a time (Draw-3).

Winning a Solitaire Game

A Solitaire game is won once all the cards are built into the Foundation in the correct order and sorted by suits.

Solitaire Strategies

When you have read the basic rules and know how to play Solitaire, it's time to learn the popular strategies.

Always move Aces to the Foundation when they become unblocked and available.

To keep your options open, try not to move other cards to the Foundation too quickly. They can help you build sequences and uncover or unblock more cards on the Tableau.

Focus on uncovering cards from the biggest piles on the Tableau first. It will give you more opportunities later.

Usually try to not introduce new cards to the game when you have moves available on the Tableau.

Before starting the game, sometimes it is a good idea to open the first card from the Stock. It may allow you to make better moves in the very beginning of the game.

Don't give up! Some games can seem unsolvable, but actually they can still be won. For example, you can always bring cards from the top of the Foundation back to the Tableau.

Had this app for more than 10 years. Lately, the ads have become really annoying and overwhelming. We understand that ads are necessary for free apps, but when they require several touches on a tiny X to close, appear suddenly in the middle of a game, play audio independently of the app's sound settings, or make the screen flash like a screenshot has been taken, it can be frustrating. Please think about the kinds of ads you use and try to reduce irritation.

I discovered Mobility solitaire years ago and it's my favorite game. I really like the unique artwork that draws you in to play just one more round. Unlike other games, it doesn't constantly ask for money. I'm open to checking out their new advertising products. The team at Mobility is great at listening and coming up with fresh ideas, so you should give them a chance!

Playing this app on your phone is frustrating because the annoying ad pops up at the top of the screen and blocks the game, often when you're about to make a move. Not a good experience at all.

I've been playing this game for years. I really like how the developer keeps updating it and adding new features. I have a suggestion though. Instead of just earning XP by playing games, it would be cool to have specific achievements to complete. Also, it would be awesome if we could watch the fastest run on the daily challenge - those times are unbelievable!

The game is great, but it would be better if there were more ways to pay. Right now, the only way to get rid of ads is to subscribe. It would be good to have a one-time payment option because most players would prefer that instead of just avoiding ads. I know developers need to earn money, but there's only so much you can update in a card game that's been around for decades. Overall, it's an excellent game with smooth gameplay, customizable cards and backgrounds, easy controls, and a leveling system to keep things interesting.

Updates are great! Starting a new game from the win screen is awesome, and the new animations are really cool. I just can't stop playing Solitaire, especially this app.

I've had this app for a long time and it's been causing problems for months. It keeps freezing, crashing, and glitching. I have to keep reopening it because of these issues. Sometimes it lets me play after trying several times, but most of the time it fails. This is happening with all my MobilityWare apps. Please help fix this. Thank you.

I've had this game for a long time. It's a good Solitaire game. Recently, the game has become overwhelming. I have it through Play Pass, so no ads, but with recent updates, it went from a quick 10-15 minutes daily game to over an hour. Now, there's a daily challenge, the weekly event is longer, and they added a puzzle event. To finish all of them, you need over an hour each day. Please change it back to how it was before.

Mobility Ware, you are amazing! Your solitaire game is the best, and so are your developers! My old phone died, but luckily my phone company sent me a new one. I was upset because my favorite game didn't transfer over with my progress. I've been playing since 2017, reached level 1736, and collected 1,723,400 total daily stars. I contacted support through the settings, and they helped me restore all my progress. Thank you so much! Bye!
