Speech Recognition & Synthesis - Voice Commands & Responses

I had the same issue as others where the app was always waiting for network and downloading constantly. So, what I did was I opened the Play Store, searched for "speech services by Google", clicked on uninstall, and then reinstalled it. And guess what - the problem was solved! It looks like there was a hiccup in the new software overwriting the older version. But, if you uninstall the old version, the new version installs smoothly without any updating issues.

I thought my phone was acting up, but after reading other comments, I realized that many others are facing the same issue. The notification "Downloading English (US) Update" keeps popping up, and it's getting on my nerves. I still rated the app with 5 stars though because this problem just started recently, and I believe the team will soon fix this bug. It wouldn't be fair to give it a 1-star rating at this point. I'm hopeful for the upcoming update that will address this issue. Keep up the good work, team!

So, here's the thing- I was trying to download an update, and for some strange reason, it was just taking ages. It kept saying "waiting on network connection," but both my data and wifi were working perfectly fine. I mean, everything was at full speed, so I was a bit baffled. In the end, I just decided to uninstall the app and then reinstall it to see if that would solve the issue.

So, for the last few days, whenever I switch on my phone after leaving it to charge overnight, it keeps attempting to update but gets stuck on "waiting to connect to network" without actually doing anything. It only gives me the choice to cancel the update. My phone is pretty new, less than a year old. I already checked with Verizon, and they said there's no issue with my phone, and all other apps and features are working perfectly.

I totally get what you're saying about Google's talk-to-text. I remember back when they first introduced it like ten years ago, especially with the Samsung Galaxy 2 or 3, it was working perfectly fine. I even customized my voice and made sure to enunciate clearly. But lately, it seems to have gone downhill. It just can't seem to understand what I'm saying, and random words pop up instead. It's gotten so bad that I find myself having to go back to typing out messages manually. Even Gboard, which used to work great for me, is starting to act up. I used to be able to type or dictate really quickly without any issues. I wonder what's going on with Google's voice recognition now!
