How to play

Unlike klondike solitaire, spider solitaire uses  two decks of cards. You can adjust your difficulty  level based on how many suits you choose to play  with — the more suits there are, the harder it  gets. 

We're going to play with two suits  for a medium level of challenge. To begin,  44 cards are dealt face down into 10 tableau  piles then one card is dealt on each tableau pile  face up. The remaining cards go into the stock.  Just like klondike, the goal of spider solitaire  is to assemble a full pile of cards in ascending  order from ace to king.

However, unlike klondike,  we can't replace cards directly into the  foundation piles. Instead, our piles must  be completed in the tableaus before they can  be moved to the foundation pile. Additionally,  spider solitaire requires our piles to  be the same suit. We can alternate colors  to move our cards around, but they must  all match if you want to move that pile.  

When you're out of possible moves, you can  deal another row of cards from the stock.  Be careful though, because unlike the reserve  in klondike, using the stock deals a new card  on top of every pile in the tableau. Since  you can only move piles that are in order,  dealing cards from the stock will limit your  options. 

Here are some other strategies. In games with two or  more suits, you're going to have to stack cards  of opposing suits on top of each other which  means they can't be moved together. To do this  as efficiently as possible you should move the  queens first and then work your way down to aces.  

What you want to avoid is creating a pile that  can't be moved and then realizing that there's  another card you could have stacked it on. In  spider solitaire, empty tableaus are much more  valuable than in klondike because you can place  any card in the empty space. That means you can  use the free space to organize the rest of your  cards. Since organizing your cards is such an  important part of spider solitaire, you should  look to empty a tableau as soon as possible.  

You can use it to clean up the messy piles  you make along the way and most importantly,  if you get stuck, you can always use the hint  button. And there you have it — you're well.
