Starlink forms a global high-speed Internet network by deploying a large number of small satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). As of 2024, SpaceX has deployed more than 4,000 satellites, with the goal of forming a huge constellation consisting of tens of thousands of satellites.

Low latency and high bandwidth:

Starlink satellites operate in low orbits (550 km to 1,200 km), with shorter data round-trip time (latency) and smoother user experience. The download speed of V2 satellites can reach 150Mbps, and the latency is as low as less than 30ms, close to the level of 4G cellular networks.

Starlink provides global coverage, including remote areas and areas where traditional Internet infrastructure is insufficient. Through intersatellite laser link technology, data can be transmitted between satellites and then access the Internet through the nearest ground station.
