Q: Export Projects from the Free to the Pro Version of Stop Motion Studio
Congratulations on getting the Pro version of Stop Motion Studio!
Transfer a Single Project:
1. Open the Project Browser:
Tap Library at the top of the screen. If you don’t see Library, tap the back arrow until it appears.
2. Select the Project:
Scroll through the projects, then tap one to see project details.
3. Share the Project:
In the project details screen, tap the share symbol.
Choose Project.
Tap the Pro version of the app. If you don’t see the Pro version, select More and find it there.
4. Import into Pro Version:
After the export is finished, the Pro version will start and import the project.
Transfer All Projects:
For iPad, iPhone, or iPod Users:
1. Open the Files App:
Available in iOS 11 or later.
Open the Files app on your device.
2. Enable Stop Motion Studio:
If you don’t see Stop Motion Studio, tap Locations > Edit.
Slide to turn on Stop Motion Studio.
Tap Done.
3. Access Project Files:
Tap the Stop Motion Studio location to see all your project files.
For Android Users:
1. Open a File Explorer App:
Use a file explorer app on your device.
2. Navigate to Data Folder:
Go to Android > Data folder.
3. Move Project Files:
Move all project files from the data folder com.cateater.stopmotionstudio to com.cateater.stopmotionstudiopro.
By following these steps, you can seamlessly transfer your projects from the Free version to the Pro version of Stop Motion Studio.
Q: Export a Project to a Different Device
Running out of space on your device? Do you want to share projects between devices or create a backup of your valuable work? To transfer your project, you can do the following:
Using Online Share Services
Use Dropbox, GDrive, OneDrive, or any other online service to share projects between devices.
1. Use a swipe gesture to scroll until you see the project you want to share.
2. Touch and hold the project to select it.
3. Tap the share symbol.
4. Tap Project. It’s important to select Project. You won’t be able to continue working on the project if you export the movie file.
5. Select the service (e.g., Dropbox) where you want to export your project.
6. On the other device, open the Dropbox app and select the project. Choose Open in to open the project. The app will import the project. Depending on the size of the project, it may take a few minutes until the project appears.
Using AirDrop
To share projects between Apple devices, you can also use AirDrop:
1. Use a swipe gesture to scroll until you see the project you want to share.
2. Touch and hold the project to select it.
3. Tap the share symbol.
4. Tap Project. It’s important to select Project. You won’t be able to continue working on the project if you export the movie file.
5. Select AirDrop and tap the device you would like to send the project.
6. On the other device, a popup will show and allow you to choose the location for the project file. Tap the project file to import it into Stop Motion Studio.
Manually Copy Project Files
With the latest version of the app, you can copy, move, or delete projects directly on the device file system. This is very useful if you want to copy all or multiple projects at once to a new location. Project files are located here:

Q: No Sound in Stop Motion Studio
If your iPhone or iPad has no sound while using Stop Motion Studio, try the following troubleshooting steps:
Check the Volume
1. Adjust the Volume
Make sure the volume is turned up. Use the volume buttons on the side of the device or adjust the volume in the Control Center.
Check the Mute Switch
1. Physical Mute Switch
If your device has a switch on the side, check if a red dot is visible within the switch. If so, move the switch in the opposite direction.
Change the volume with the buttons on the side of your device.
2. Control Center Mute
If your device does not have a side switch or the switch is set to Orientation Lock:
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center.
Tap the Mute button to ensure it is not highlighted.
Adjust the volume with the buttons on the side of your device.
Turn Off Focus Modes
1. Disable Focus Modes
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center.
Check the Focus icon. If it says anything other than “Focus,” tap the icon to turn it off.
Check Bluetooth Connectivity
1. Disable Bluetooth
Your device may be connected to a Bluetooth audio device that is too far away to hear.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center.
Tap the Bluetooth icon to turn off Bluetooth and force the device to use its built-in speaker.
Restart the Device
1. Restart Your iPhone or iPad
Press and hold the power button until the “slide to power off” option appears.
Swipe the power icon to the right to turn off the device.
Press and hold the power button again to turn it back on.
Check Sound Settings
1. Sound Settings
Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
Ensure that the volume is turned up for ringtones, alerts, and other sound options.
Check Headphone Connectivity
1. Unplug Headphones
If you have headphones or earbuds plugged in, unplug them to see if the sound returns.
Check for Software Updates
1. Software Updates
Ensure that your device is running the latest software updates, as these can often fix bugs and issues affecting sound.
Reset All Settings
1. Reset Settings
If none of the above solutions work, try resetting all settings on your device.
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will reset all settings but will not delete any data.

Q: Restore a Deleted Project File
If you accidentally delete a project, you can restore it by following these steps:
For iPhone and iPad Users:
1. Recently Deleted Folder
When you delete a project, it goes into your Recently Deleted folder.
2. Recovery Timeframe
You have 30 days to recover a deleted project.
3. Steps to Recover
Open the Files app and navigate to Locations > Recently Deleted.
Select the file you want to recover and tap Recover.
4. Permanent Deletion
After 30 days, files in the Recently Deleted folder will be permanently removed.
For Android Users:
1. Recently Deleted Folder
When you delete a project, it goes into a Recently Deleted folder.
2. Recovery Timeframe
You have 7 days to recover a deleted project.
3. Steps to Recover
Open a File Explorer app and go to the project folder > Recently Deleted.
Move the project you want to keep back into the project folder to recover it.
4. Permanent Deletion
After 7 days, files in the Recently Deleted folder will be permanently removed.
Important Note:
All files are stored locally on your device. We do not keep copies of your files.
Please remember to regularly back up your valuable work to prevent loss.
Getting Started with Stop Motion Studio
The free version of the Stop Motion Studio application will let you quickly take and combine multiple photos into an animation. Download the Stop Motion Studio app for iOS or Android to try it out! Below, we share some tips and tricks about how to get started.
Using Stop Motion Studio
1. Select New Movie
2. Select the camera icon
3. Take a photo
4. Set Transparency
Before you take the next photo, make sure that you slide down the dot on the slider bar on the left. This gives you an onion skin (a faint ghost of the previous image that you captured) to help you see how far you have moved the object between the previous photo.
5. Finish your animation
You can increase or decrease the speed of playback to achieve your desired effect. Once you are happy with the two photos (or more), click the arrow icon to exit the editor.
6. Select your animation
Click "Select" first. Then, click the movie that you just worked on.
7. Export your GIF
Click the export icon. Click "Animated GIF" in the pulldown menu.
You can export your GIF animation to a Google drive, or AirDrop to your computer, or mail to yourself, or send to social media etc.. Once your file is on the computer, it will make it easy to share!
