Streets of Rage 2 is the latest addition to 'SEGA Forever', a collection of free SEGA console favorites revamped for mobile devices!

Overview:

Streets of Rage 2 Classic is a SEGA-made adaptation following up on their SEGA Forever line of classic remakes for mobile devices. This time around we're looking at the second part to the well known trilogy of beat'em ups launched for MegaDrive and SEGA Genesis.

Just like other major titles this one is no different in that it follows the same exact formula: a well-crafted emulation of an already perfect game that includes a couple of retouches like filters for scanlines, a suave bilineal, and the possibility to rewind action by a few quick seconds or even shift aspect ratio from 4:3 to panoramic mode (which works perfectly with your smartphone screen).

Gameplay:

Like the previous game, Streets of Rage 2 is a side-scrolling beat-em-up in which one or two players fight against waves of enemies while picking up weapons and items along the way. Along with returning characters Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding, the game introduces two new characters; Max Thunder, a slow-moving but powerful wrestler, and Eddie "Skate" Hunter (known as Sammy Hunter in the Japanese release), the brother of previous game's Adam Hunter who can move around quickly with his rollerblades. In addition to standard attacks, which have been expanded from the previous game, each character can perform a unique Blitz Attack by double tapping a direction before attacking. Replacing the police car attack from the previous game, each character can perform Special Attacks which can deal extra damage or attack enemies from all directions at the cost of the player's health. Along with the main campaign, two players can also fight against each other in the game's Duel mode.

AwardsL:

Upon release, Streets of Rage 2 received the Mega Game award from Mean Machines Sega, and the Sega Force Smash award from Sega Force. The GameFan Golden Megawards gave it the awards for Best Game, Best Action Fighting Game, and Best Game Music. The Mega Reader Awards voted it the Best Beat-'Em-Up of 1992.

Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it the award for "Hottest Video Game Babe (Blaze)" in 1993.

Feedback:

"The game is great fun just getting into the streets of rage games, but the controls are a little on the unreliable side all in all great game."

"Awesome!! Brings back so many memories and runs great! In screen controls take a little getting used to but once you do, it's perfect!"

"I would give 5 stars if I could play using my joystick. It is inadmissible a 16bits generation game with no joystick support. Game runs magnificent until I press the touch, and it does not respond because I am pressing too fast. A joystick would never miss the timing."

This game is really awesome, but the controller sensitivity and reward system need some fixing. Great job to the developers, just make sure to address the bugs before they affect more players, okay?

I played the Sega Genesis first on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. I was happy when they did this because it's cool. But having to always need Google Play to save is not good.

The game runs smoothly and well. The ads in the game are not annoying - they only appear when you go to the next stage, start or save/load the game, not in the middle of gameplay. However, the controller is not really good. It gives you difficulties when trying to push buttons on the screen. I think developers should add a feature like a turbo button so that you don't get finger pain when pushing buttons on the screen repeatedly.

The gameplay is actually pretty good, but I couldn't even get past the start screen without four pop-up ads. This game has way too many ads, so I'm going to uninstall it.

The bike game I was playing suddenly stopped working when I was only halfway through the first level. Whenever I try to play on any bike in level 2, it freezes. It's so annoying! I've tried fixing it but it seems hopeless. I have a One Plus 8 phone, not the latest model but still decent. Trying to walk in the game is a nightmare. I can only move forward and turning is impossible. And when the game freezes, I can't even go back. Such a frustrating experience!

Enjoyed the game a lot before and still do, but it's tough to play with touch controls. You definitely need a controller to enjoy it. If I have to use a controller, I'd rather play it on a console.

Excited that the game is available on mobile now! There aren't too many ads, and the save feature comes in handy. It would be nice if the controls could be improved a bit, as some similar games have better controls. Overall, definitely recommend downloading it!

Played Streets of Rage 2 in Dreamcast (USA Ver.) with my friend, Albert. Kept dying but still had fun. Also played it in Genesis with hacks/mods - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Streets of Rage 2 and Street Fighter in Streets of Rage 2. I give 5 stars for everything - optional, hacks/mods, and the game. Playing the original version on a Streets of Rage Collection on Genesis. ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️

I love this game! I started playing it 15-20 years ago and it still gives me the same joy. Playing it makes me feel young again, just like a teenager. I have a great time playing it with my two kids. Axel... Enter power!!!!!
