How to publish a post from the Substack app
Follow these steps to publish and send a post to your subscribers directly from the Substack app:
1. Open the Substack app and tap the orange “plus” button on the Home screen. Select “Post”.
2. Write a draft post by directly typing into the editor. As you type, you’ll see various formatting and embed options.
- Select the plus icon to add an image from your photo library or take a photo using your device. You can also add a divider line to create sections in your post.
- Select the link icon to add a link to your draft or hyperlink specific text.
- Select the bullet points icon to format text as a bulleted or numbered list. Once you add a bulleted or numbered list, you’ll see the options to indent your lists.
- Select the quotes icon to format text as a block quote.
- Select the arrow icon to undo or redo previous actions.
- Select the keyboard icon to view your draft post without the device keyboard blocking the screen.
- To access formatting options on the app editor, highlight the text. You’ll be able to select from various text sizes, hyperlinks, bolding, italics, strikethrough, and code options.
Note: New drafts started in the app editor will be autosaved, but you can only edit one draft at a time. Drafts started in the app are only saved to the app. We’ll work on syncing in-app drafts to the web dashboard in the coming months.
3. Once you’re ready to publish your post, select “Next”.
