Our History

FOUNDATION OF THE NATIONAL ESSO GAS COMPANY

The Esso National Gas Company, controlled by the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey, is founded by Wilson Lemos de Moraes.

1952

CIA CHANGES ITS NAME TO GASBRAS

The company officially becomes Companhia Brasileira de Gás, and changes its name to Gasbras.

1955

FOUNDATION OF MINASSGÁS

Initially, with just one specialized store, Minasgás transformed in just a few years into a chain with several branches spread throughout Brazil.

FOUNDATION OF SUPERGAZ

In addition to Minasgás, Supergaz was also created in 1955. The two would later touch on our history.

1968

CREATION OF SUPERGASBRAS

Supergaz and Gasbras join forces, creating Supergasbras.

1995

SHV PURCHASES FROM MINASGÁS

Minasgás is invited to join forces with the Dutch company SHV.

1996

SHV ACQUIRES PART OF SUPERGRASBRAS

SHV begins the process of purchasing Supergasbras, which lasts until 2004.

2004

CREATION OF SHV GÁS BRASIL

SHV consolidates the acquisition of Minasgás and Supergasbras, and unifies the two companies, forming SHV Gás Brasil.

2011

SUPERGASBRAS ENERGY LTDA

Supergasbras adopts the official name it has to this day: Supergasbras Energia LTDA.

2019

SUPERGASBRAS RENEWS THE BRAND

Supergasbras modernizes the brand, aligning itself with SHV Energy.

2021

SUPERGASBRAS TURNS 75 YEARS OLD

Supergasbras turns 75, aligning tradition and evolution and promoting energy together.
