More details

Tap Wizard is an incremental idle RPG in which we equip a wizard with five unique spells that it then uses to automatically defeat endless hordes of enemies while we gradually increase its powers through research, spell upgrades, and weapon enchantments.

Although combat is fully automated, the gameplay feels very active since we need to manually collect the various power-ups and healing potions that constantly drop from killed monsters in order to deal with the strong bosses waiting at the end of every zone. Some of these power-ups get saved in our inventory so we can trigger them when we need them the most.

Apart from progressing from zone to zone, we can enter daily raids to receive spell stones used to unlock new spells, while existing spells rank up the more they’re used, providing stronger active and passive abilities. Meanwhile, gold can be spent on researching stat boost, and a “power” currency is used to add enchantment bonuses to weapons – both of which are currencies gained from killing monsters. Unused power also adds a stat boost to our wizard whenever we die or manually reset to stage 1.1.

Although the UI is slightly confusing, the game has lots of interesting mechanics to offer and delivers a polished idle RPG experience.

Tap Wizard monetizes through a $9.99 iAP to remove the scarce incentivized ads but still get the rewards, and additional iAPs for a premium currency used to buy convenience items and unlock spells faster than through completing raids. The iAPs don’t feel necessary to enjoy the game.

The designers really went for it with this game. The mechanics are intriguing and varied. Every detail is explained clearly. It's easy to understand everything. This game is a true masterpiece!

This game is fantastic for anyone who enjoys playing actively instead of just sitting back. I've been diving into it for a week, and the mechanics continue to grab my attention. Each step forward unlocks new features that bring excitement. The element of random chance keeps every run different, ensuring no two experiences feel the same. It offers a level of freedom often missing in other idle games while still feeling cohesive. Plus, there are no annoying ads popping up everywhere. Overall, this has easily become my favorite idle game.

The gameplay is fun and the retro music really hits the spot. Devs listen to feedback, which makes a difference. The core gameplay loop keeps players engaged. The Starter Bundle offers great value for anyone with a few dollars handy. It’s a nice way to support the devs too. This bundle includes some random spells and a cool wizard skin. For busy players, it eases the grind for spellstones in daily critical raids. Still, most content can be unlocked without purchasing it!

The game feels empty. No real objectives or quests to follow. The menu overwhelms you with confusion. The graphics stand out, and the music adds a nice touch. But the gameplay disappoints. Spells lack clear explanations, making it hard to understand how to use them. You face the same enemies repeatedly in each level. Progress feels nonexistent.

I absolutely adore this game! It's definitely among my top picks. The idea of more spell skins excites me, but it would be fantastic if they were easier to get. Imagine the creativity with poison, wind, and earth themes. Just something I’ve been thinking about. Anyway, great work overall! This game brings me so much joy!

This game is incredible. Download it right away! The mechanics are outstanding, easily deserving five stars. I wish the developers would consider adding more element schools. Imagine having earth, plant, light, and dark elements. It would be so cool to incorporate type advantages and disadvantages for those elements as well. That addition would take the experience to another level!

This game feels pretty underwhelming. The microtransactions jump out at you with their crazy prices. Paying ten bucks to remove ads seems reasonable, like buying a full game on Steam. But then there’s this unique skin costing about 55 quid. Seriously? A starter bundle that costs ten pounds advertised as “insane value” is just outrageous. That totals up to 20 quid to play without ads and get those extras. It adds up fast. Despite the steep prices, I’ll give credit where it's due—this game doesn't shove ads in your face every few seconds. Now, let's dive into the gameplay. It’s all about setting it up and then doing nothing, but you only unlock the "forget it" feature later, which costs more. Strange setup for an idle game that requires active participation. The game starts slow, dragging on when most games hook you quickly. My first minutes felt like a never-ending struggle. Choice of wizards isn't impressive either; you've got a grumpy old man, a busty woman, or a Khajiit. I picked the kitty because why not? Skins are purely cosmetic, another tactic to pull you into spending money. Developers know that if cosmetics cost nothing, no one would buy them. I don’t completely dislike the game, so it gets two stars instead of one. Still, it needs to dial back the greed and amp up the fun. It should pick a lane—either lean into being an idle game or an active one instead of trying to juggle both. Also, the font is a nightmare. Pluses look like minuses, text is tiny, even squinting makes things tough. Bold text options could really help. Not a visually impaired person, yet I found it challenging. Anyone with vision issues would struggle even more. One last thing, the academy screen switches between time and coin cost way too much. Making that box larger and showing both simultaneously would make for a smoother experience. Just some thoughts. Hopefully, this review helps you decide whether or not to check the game out.

Tap Wizard stands out as a fantastic game. The music brings back memories of classic NES tunes, and the colorful graphics grab your attention right away. The gameplay pulls you in deeply, even for an idle game; you won't find yourself getting bored after just five minutes. Sometimes, though, zones hit a plateau, which can feel challenging. While Tap Wizard encourages a more active playing style, it still has that AFK element. Overall, it's impressive and definitely worth trying out! Rating: 5 stars!

The in-game purchases are way too expensive. It takes forever to unlock new spells without spending money. The game constantly pushes ads and store promotions. It feels more like a cash grab than an enjoyable experience. I give it two stars because the gameplay was somewhat fun.
