The Moron Test - Review
News By George Ponder last updated November 21, 2018
Everyone has those moments where they feel dumber than a door knob. Those "Uh Duh" moments in life hits all of us and there's a game for your Windows Phone designed to bring them out. The Moron Test for Windows Phone 7 will reveal the moron in us all.
With four categories/rooms of testing, each with 100+ challenges, The Moron Test will dumbfound the best and have you screaming "Dohhhh" within seconds. It may not prove that you are a molecular geneticist but The Moron Test will test your powers of observation, concentration and speed.

I knew that...
The Moron Test is laid out in simple fashion with nice graphics. You have five classrooms to visit, each with at least one hundred questions/puzzles/challenges. Settings are equally simple controlling the sound effects and background music. You can also share your progress on Facebook via the Facebook Connect.
To start the test, just choose one of the four rooms (Old School, Late Registration, Winter Break, and Food Fight) and tap "Start" from the chalkboard that will appear.
You will then begin a series of questions that show up on index cards ranging from the simple (e.g. push the red button) to those that make you think twice (e.g. Don't trust the next card). You also have cards that change in mid-stream. For example you'll be instructed not to touch the green button and a few seconds later, the direction changes where you need to touch the green button. If you're not paying attention, you'll miss it.
After a few questions, you'll reach a checkpoint. You'll be updated on your progress. The checkpoint also includes a question you must answer correctly to advance.
All the latest news, reviews, and guides for Windows and Xbox diehards.
In playing The Moron Test over the past few days, the game has a "Simon Says" feel to it. But in a twisted sense. The game will present you with colored buttons and instructions to touch them in a certain order, then shuffle the buttons around the screen as you begin the touch sequence.
Any wrong answer or answer not given quickly (when required) will result in a failure on the test. When you fail, the game will allow you to return to the last checkpoint for a certain number of times. Otherwise you will have to start the test from the beginning. More times than not, when you miss a question you'll slap your forehead and think, "I knew that!"
While there is no point value assigned to each correct answer, you do take the test under time. Naturally, you'll want to take the test as quickly as possible but not too fast that you misread directions. It's amazing how you can reach "Touch the smallest to largest duck" as meaning "Touch the largest to smallest duck". Or read "Touch the smallest to largest duck according to eye size" and completely miss "according to eye size".
Overall Impression
The Moron Test can be a very humbling experience. The game will make you smile one second and grit your teeth the next. The Moron Test ran smoothly with the only glitches coming from the user by way of incorrect answers.
There is a slight addictive quality to The Moron Test that comes from the need to avoid looking like a total moron. The downside to the game is when you work a good way through a test, only to have to start over after failing a question. I think the game would have more of an addictive quality if it saved your progress or graded you on your overall performance during a test.
As is, The Moron Test is a challenging game with a novelty touch to it. It is a game you enjoy for a while then have to set it aside for a while. The good thing about it is that when you do get around to playing The Moron Test again, it doesn't have a stale feel to it.
There is a free trial available for The Moron Test which everyone should try. The full version will run you $2.99 and you can find it here (opens Zune) at the Marketplace.
