WHAT’S NEW FOR SEASON 2024/25? (SUMMARY)

Gameweek 1 deadline: The deadline to make changes to your team ahead of the first Gameweek is 8pm (BST) on 16 August 2024

Transfer deadline: The standard cut-off to make changes (except GW1, above) is now 90 minutes before kick-off in the first match in each Gameweek

Vice Captain: You must now select a Vice Captain every Gameweek – he’ll score double if your Captain doesn’t play

Points changes: Each goal scored is now worth 6pts, while an assist it worth 3pts

PPM changes: Goalkeepers have additional ways to earn PPM, increasing their opportunity to earn Bonus Points

New booster: When Goal Bonus is activated, every goal scored by your players is worth an additional 3pts (or 6pt if you Captain or active Vice Captain scores)

THE BASICS

Our Season Fantasy Game follows the classic Dream Team fantasy format.

With an initial budget of £50m, pick 11 players from English Premier League clubs, then transfer players in and out throughout the season.

You accumulate points each Gameweek based on players’ performances and fantasy points awarded in domestic and European club matches.

There are additional tactical elements. Your nominated Captain will earn double points each Gameweek (or Vice Captain if he doesn’t feature), and you can play three special Boosters for one Gameweek each during the season.

The £50,000 jackpot will go to the manager who finishes top of the Leaderboard, with 10 runners-up each receiving £1000.

But there are weekly prizes too: £5000 for the first Gameweek, and then £250 prize for each subsequent Gameweek throughout the season.

Plus, we have a Second Shot Leaderboard, with a £5000 prize pot, running from 3 January 2025.

You’re also entered into Club and National leagues and you can join or create Mini Leagues to play against mates.

CREATE A TEAM

Choose 11 players from the available pool within your starting budget of £50m.

Our team of experts have given each player a fantasy value based on their point-scoring potential.

Look for players which you think we’ve undervalued. Alternatively, pick your real-life favourites or simply select Auto-fill.

You can make changes right up to the Gameweek deadline.

Before choosing players, you will be asked to choose an initial formation: 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 3-4-3, 3-5-2, 5-4-1 or 5-3-2.

This formation will change dynamically according to the positions of the players you select.

If you create a 4-4-2 team and subsequently remove a Striker, adding a Midfielder will automatically change the formation to 4-5-1.

You’ll need to nominate a Captain who will score double points in each match during the Gameweek, and also a Vice Captain who will score double if your Captain doesn’t play.

Give your team a name. Nothing offensive please, or we might have to change it - or, in extreme cases, even disqualify you. (You can change it by going to ‘My Profile’ and selecting ‘Fantasy Team Name’.)

Once saved, your team is automatically entered into our Leaderboard, as well as National and Club leagues, based on information you gave when registering.

You’re now also able to create or join Mini-Leagues with friends, family and/or colleagues.

GAMEWEEKS

The season is split into scoring periods known as Gameweeks, which typically start on a Friday evening or Saturday lunchtime.

The standard deadline for making changes – including nominating a Captain and Vice Captain, and activating a Booster – is 90 minutes before the first game of each Gameweek.

The deadline for the first Gameweek is 8pm (BST) on 16th August 2024, the kick-off time of the first Premier League match of the season (Man United v Fulham).

The deadline is always shown on the game hub page.

Any subsequent changes after will be applied at the start of the next Gameweek (but you can ‘Undo’ all pending changes).

The final Gameweek will conclude at the end of the UEFA Champions League final which is scheduled to take place on 31 May 2025.

ELIGIBLE MATCHES

Your players can earn points when competing in the following competitions: the English Premier League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup (also known as the EFL Cup), as well as the following UEFA competitions from the group stages onwards only: Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.

The following fixtures are NOT eligible matches: any international competition matches, the FA Community Shield, the UEFA Super Cup and pre-group qualifying/play-off matches of the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.

TRANSFER ALLOWANCE

Once you’ve created a team, you can make unlimited changes until the start of the first Gameweek.

You are then allocated two transfers ahead of each new Gameweek.

If you don’t make any transfers, ONE will rollover so you will have three to use ahead of the next Gameweek.

If you don’t make transfers for a fortnight, TWO will rollover, leaving four for the following week. Four is the maximum.

Important: No matter if you start a Gameweek with two, three or four transfers, if you make any transfers, NONE will rollover.

You can reverse all transfers (not individual selections) ahead of deadline, by selecting Transfers and pressing the ‘Undo’ button.

CAPTAIN AND VICE CAPTAIN

You must nominate a Captain and Vice Captain each Gameweek. If you don’t make a change, the previous selection(s) will be retained.

Your Captain will score double points (positive or negative) in each game during the Gameweek.

If he doesn’t play during the Gameweek, your Vice Captain will score double instead.

There are restrictions when playing a Booster – see below.

BOOSTERS

You have three Boosters to activate, once each, for a single Gameweek during the season. Only one can be played at a time.

12th Man – add an extra player of any value, and in any position. (He cannot be nominated as Captain or Vice Captain)

Max Captain – your highest-scoring player is automatically made Captain, earning double points. (When activated, the normal Captain and Vice Captain feature is disabled)

Goal Bonus – each goal scored by a player in your team is worth 9pts (instead of 6pts). Each goal scored by your Captain is worth 18pts.

POINT SCORING

Players can score points when appearing in the following competitions:

English Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League. (Excluding qualifying/play-off matches before the group stages in European competitions).

Points are based on data provided by leading stats specialists OPTA and are awarded as follows:

FAQ

1. Can I manage more than one team?(Fantasy)

No, you can only enter one Fantasy team per registered Sun/Dream Team account.

We think it makes it fairer to managers of all levels, effectively levelling the playing field for all.

Under our T&Cs, each user can only have one Dream Team account.

Anyone suspected of managing multiple teams will be investigated and risks having all associated accounts terminated.

2. Does Dream Team have an age restriction? (All)

Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to play The Sun Dream Team games.

You are asked to self-verify when registering.

Winners are required to supply ID before prizes are confirmed and dispatched.

3. How do I change my team’s formation? (Fantasy)

When creating a team you are asked to select an initial formation.

But, beyond this, your formation will change dynamically depending on the players you chose.

For example, if you have a 4-4-2 set-up and want to change to 4-5-1, simply remove one of your Strikers and pick a Midfielder.

If you do not see players available from a particular position, check your search filters.

There are seven available formations: 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 3-4-3, 3-5-2, 5-4-1 and 5-3-2.
