Basic Functions Guide

Subscribe

To subscribe to the WSJ app tap on the "Subscribe" button at the top of any subscriber-only article or in the app’s settings section accessed from the icon in the top-left corner. You will be prompted to verify the purchase linked to your Google Play store or Amazon Store.

You will be charged at the end of the trial period and your subscription will auto-renew every month. You may cancel at any time and will retain access until the end of your current billing period.

After you complete your purchase in the Android app, you will have the option of creating a WSJ.com account that you can use to access the full WSJ content on any digital platform: our website, iOS and Android apps for phone and tablet, and services like Apple News that require a login to view subscriber-only content.

Refresh

All contents of the "Latest News" sections are updated regularly throughout the day in real-time.

You can access the full contents of the print edition by navigating to the "Today's Paper" section. At any time, you can access seven days of print editions.

Today's Paper editions are automatically downloaded overnight if your device is connected to Wifi or mobile data. You will receive a push notification that the day's edition is available, and you can change your download settings in the app to manage your data usage.

If you want to manage your data usage, you can change the frequency, type and method of content downloads in the WSJ app by tapping on settings, accessed from the icon in the top-left corner.

We are planning an upcoming enhancement to build a homescreen widget to browse WSJ content without launching the app.

Save

You can save any article in the app by tapping on the bookmark icon at the top of all article pages or from the story cards on section fronts. Your saved articles can be accessed by tapping the Saved Articles button on the bottom navigation bar. You can remove any article from your saved list by tapping the bookmark icon again.

Currently articles saved on the Android app will only be present on your Android device. We are planning an upcoming enhancement to sync the articles you save on Android with your saved articles on other platforms like the website or iOS apps.

Follow Authors

You can follow your favorite authors on the WSJ app by simply tapping the (+) button next to an author's byline on any article page and you will receive a notification whenever he or she publishes a new article. You can see all of your followed authors at the bottom of the notifications screen, accessed by tapping on the Notifications button on the bottom navigation bar.

To manage your notification settings, tap the "Notifications" button on the bottom navigation bar. You can turn off notifications for any category you are signed up for, or for any author you are following, by tapping the switch icon next to a category or author's name.

Get Started

Register

If you are existing print subscriber you can register to manage your print subscription by clicking "Activate my digital subscription" on the Customer Center home page. You will be prompted to locate your print account by your last name and your preferred locate method. After your print subscription is located you will be prompted to verify your account in order to proceed with linking your print account to your new registration. After your registration is completed you may sign in to the Customer Center.

If you are an existing digital subscriber you are already registered to use the Customer Center click the "Sign In" button and enter your email address or username along with your password and click the "Sign In" button.

Free Registered User

As a Registered Free user you have access to sign in to the Customer Center. You will have limited access to WSJ.com, Barrons.com, and Marketwatch.com. Articles which are available exclusively to subscribers will require a subscription in order to view articles in their entirety.

Sign In

To sign in to the Customer Center using your existing digital login click the "Sign In" button located on the Customer Center home page. Enter your email address or username. You can choose to "Continue with Password" or "One Time Pass-code" to continue with your Sign In.

Gift Subscriptions

Gift subscriptions for The Wall Street Journal digital access are available for purchase online. To place an order for a Wall Street Journal gift subscription, please visit the gift subscription order page. Once the gift subscription is ordered, the recipient will receive an email informing them of the gift subscription start date with a link for activation.
