I've been using this app for a long time. I'm fine with it crashing and not working well sometimes since it's free. But I really dislike the new way they show ads. If this keeps up, I'll delete the app and find something else. I enjoy The Chive and its content, so please stop with these intrusive ads.

It's nice that those who made the app contacted my coworker about the latest update. I've never really had any problems with it myself. They should continue doing a great job!

I really like the Chive and have been a fan for many years. However, the app has always been pretty bad. Lately, it's been freezing and crashing all the time. I usually have to deal with two crashes just to see one post. It gets so frustrating that I end up closing it. Calling it the best app in the world? Definitely not. It's probably one of the worst apps out there. The content is great, but they seriously need to improve the app.

I've used this app for a long time. I use it every day and the content has always been good. I don't usually pay attention to the ads. Recently though, the app keeps crashing. I don't know if it's a problem with the server or the software, but it's a big problem. I was thinking about buying a subscription, but not anymore with how the app is acting. This needs to be sorted out. The Chive is too awesome to have an unreliable app like this.

This place was all about fun stuff and helping others while staying positive. It used to have a good foundation for assisting people in need, especially for popular cases. But now, things have changed. The ads are excessive and invasive, interrupting even when the app is silent. There's no way to get rid of them without closing the app forcibly. It's like they've become like Facebook.

The app keeps shutting down, and it's been going on for more than a year. Before, you could open a thread and view about half of the pictures before it froze and closed. Now, it just closes immediately upon opening, and this has occurred on both Android and Apple phones. I appreciate the content, but the functionality is poor.

Updated the app. Not happy. Check one post, see 10-15 unique photos out of 40. Buttons on the "+" don't work. Have to download to share, resulting in fewer views/clicks for you all. App should be flawless with your resources.

Update 06/2023: Improving with a rating increase from 1 to 3 stars. No more crashes, but still encountering random audio ads that are not relevant to the displayed banner. App still tends to crash around 20% of the time. Additionally, experiencing unexpected loud music that plays at random intervals and can only be stopped by closing the app. It's essentially just a fancy photo collection. Given the app's likely high advertising earnings, it's surprising that the performance is subpar.

I really love theChive and what they represent both online and in their philanthropic efforts. But, the app is terrible now. It's so glitchy that it's almost impossible to use. The pictures and captions don't match up, and they keep repeating throughout the posts. It's just a mess. In the past two weeks, it's gone from being an app I check every day to one that I'm considering deleting.

User since 2013. The app has become difficult to use. Viewing a gallery leads to frequent crashes. The comment feature has been dysfunctional for a long time and now even opening it is impossible. Gifs fail to load properly. Additionally, there are now mandatory video ads that play after each gallery view, with a required waiting time before closure. Surprisingly, the only content that loads smoothly in this app seems to be the ads. I had a great experience with the Chive in the past, but sadly, this app is now malfunctioning.
