They Are Coming is a back-tracking, people-collecting shooter that sees you blasting at waves of enemies while trying to avoid circular saws, spiky walls and all manner of other tricky obstacles.

Upgrade when you can

Whenever you’ve got enough cash to spend on upgrading your skills, you should do it. Whether it’s adding more men to your team or increasing the amount you earn as you play, it’s going to be well worth your while to get tougher. 

Do the math

When you’re heading towards a gate, do some quick math to figure out which of the two options you should be aiming for. The one with the biggest numerical value on it might seem the most tempting, but multiplication is often more rewarding than addition. 

Add bosses

Don’t forget to add bosses to your team when you’re upgrading. These are giant characters who can take more damage than regular soldiers. You’ll want to prioritize the other upgrade options, but sticking a new boss in every now and then will set you in good stead to get the best scores and finish the levels. 

Get the new weapons

When you unlock a new weapon it’s worth watching the video to get it. There’s nothing better than getting some new fire power, and while the guns all seem to be basically as strong as one another, it’s good to have as many of them as possible because some of them fire in different ways. 

Look out for buttons

Sometimes you’re going to spot buttons marked “push” on the floor of the level. Always try and give them a poke by standing on them if you can. They’ll set off traps that can kill a huge number of attackers before they’ve even had a chance to get close to you. And that’s exactly what you want.
