Refunds & cancellations

    - Cancel my vacation rental booking

Go to your Inbox and open the payment receipt for the booking.

If you want to make a change to your booking, including editing dates or number of guests, you don’t have to cancel. Contact the owner with your request by sending them a message. They might be able to make the changes online.

Before canceling your booking, please read the Cancellation policy, which outlines the cancellation conditions. You will be shown the cancellation timeline for your booking and if you will be due a refund. By canceling, you agree to the conditions of the owner’s cancellation policy, you can view this in the booking receipt.

If you do decide to cancel, select Cancel booking and follow the instructions. Once your booking has been canceled you’ll receive a confirmation email.

If your holiday wasn’t booked through our website then you’ll need to contact the property owner/manager directly to cancel your booking.

    - Understanding your refund

Any refund depends on the cancellation policy for that booking. Go to your Inbox where you can view the cancellation policy and see if you are due a refund.

The owner chooses their cancellation policy, so if you have any questions or would like to discuss a possible refund with them, you can do so through your Inbox. Please note that any refunds outside of the cancellation policy are entirely at the owner or property manager’s discretion.

Didn’t book online? If you paid the property owner/manager directly, they will process any refund due. Contact them for details.

    - The owner wants to cancel my booking

We’re sorry your booking is going to be canceled – we know how disappointing this can be.

If your booking hasn’t been canceled yet:

Firstly, wait to receive confirmation of the cancellation, as the owner may change their mind.

If they do decide to cancel your booking and you paid through our website, you’ll receive an email confirming the cancellation and when your refund will be processed (if applicable).

Remember: if the owner needs to cancel your booking, they should do so themselves via our platform.

If your booking has already been canceled:

Need to find another holiday rental? Contact our Reservations team who can help you find an alternative place to stay.

Visit your Inbox for more details about your canceled stay and any pending refunds.

    - Receiving my refund

Please note that if you cancel your booking, any refund due is determined by the cancellation policy conditions*. You can see your booking cancellation policy in your Inbox.

* If your booking was accepted less than 24 hours ago and your stay is 60 days or more away, then the cooling-off period will apply and your booking will be refunded in full. You can view what refund you may be due in your Inbox.

If the owner cancels your booking, you will receive a full refund of the payment you’ve made for your booking.

The time it takes to process a refund depends on how you paid for the booking.

If you used PayPal, you’ll typically see the funds in your account within 24 business hours of the refund being initiated. If you used a credit/debit card, it can take up to 10 business days for the refund to arrive in your account (depending on the card provider).

Please note: All refunds go back to your original payment method. If you used different payment methods to pay for your booking, you might receive a split refund.

I Paid the owner/manager directly

Please contact the owner/manager to find out when you’ll receive your refund. You may find details in the rental agreement if you have one.

II Damage deposits

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged if the owner reports damage and their claim is successful.

    - Cancel my booking request for a vacation rental property

If you'd like to withdraw a booking request that hasn't yet been accepted, you'll need to ask the property owner/manager directly.

You can contact them by clicking Send message on their property listing or by sending them a message through your Inbox.

    - Get my money back for my declined rental booking request

We’re sorry your booking request was declined – please rest assured that you haven’t been charged a penny.

If you have questions about why your booking request was declined, please contact the property owner/manager directly. You can also go to your Inbox to check the details of the booking request and contact the owner.

I Don’t worry – you’ve not been charged

When you make a booking request, your payment is simply held by your bank until the owner accepts your booking. In this case, the owner has unfortunately declined the booking, so we’ve told the bank to release your payment.

    · The pre-authorised payment will usually appear in the pending section of your credit card or bank account.

    · When the pre-authorised payment is released, it may appear as a refund on your statement, or the original held payment will disappear entirely.

Please note: It may take up to seven working days to release the pre-authorised payment, depending on the processing time of your bank/credit card account. Please contact your bank directly for more information – you can use your confirmation email about the declined booking as proof (if required).

    - Claim a refund

If you’re expecting a refund following a cancellation or waiting for your damage deposit, you can check the payment status in your Inbox

Please note: Refunds can take up to 10 days to reach your original payment method.

If, following your stay, you feel you’re due a full or partial refund due to issues or problems at the property, contact the property owner/manager through your inbox. You can then present them with any evidence you may have to support your claim.

II Homes covered by Payment Protection

It's very rare for something to go wrong, but if you're unable to gain access to the property-- and have exhausted efforts to resolve the matter with the property owner--you need to call us on +44 (0)2037015375 on the first day of the rental period.

Remember: to qualify for Payment Protection you must have booked and paid online through our site. Read the full terms.

II Homes not covered by Payment Protection

You’ll need to contact the property owner/manager to resolve the matter with them. See your booking contract (if you have one) for the terms and conditions.

    - Booking Cancellations

We get it, plans change! In most cases, you can cancel your booking for a full refund up to 1 day before your activity. However, please check the “Terms and Conditions” section of your ticket for the detailed cancellation policy for your specific activity.

To cancel your booking:

    · Go to your Bookings page

    · Find the booking you need to adjust.

    · On the right side, you will see links where you can view/print your ticket, change date or cancel your booking.

    · Click the 'Cancel Booking' link.

    · You will see the price paid along with the refund amount due prior to finalizing the cancellation.

    · Once you are ready to cancel, click 'Cancel Booking.'

    · You will receive a confirmation email when your cancellation request has been completed.

NOTE: The 'Cancel Booking' option will not be available if your tour/activity is designated as 'Non-Refundable' as these reservations cannot be canceled or changed.

    Trip Advisor was better before. They sold out to advertisers and changed their listing structure which made it less useful now. For instance, you can't see a complete list starting from #1 of the best things to do in a place anymore. It's split into different lists and doesn't allow users to view all activities ranked in order. I used to rely on Trip Advisor, but not anymore.

    I used this app for a few years and it was good. However, the recent updates have made it worse. Now, you can't get directions from a restaurant on the map within the app; you have to use Google Maps separately. Also, when filtering reviews, you can only choose one language at a time, instead of all languages. Another problem is that it resets when switching between different apps. These are just a few of the problems.
