Featurers

Easy location check-ins

The Verizon Family app’s map feature uses GPS data and the Verizon network to show family members’ locations. Family members must enable GPS location on mobile device and allow location permissions for Verizon Family app. If family members have a Verizon wireless mobile line, approximate device location from the wireless network may also be shared when GPS location is not available.

Arrived safe and sound

Get notified when a child arrives or leaves an agreed-upon place through automated Location Alerts.

Stay in the know as they go

Safe Walk lets kids share their location, mark themselves safe once they’ve arrived or send SOS alerts to an emergency contact. SOS will not contact 911 or dispatch emergency services. In the event of a critical emergency, dial 911.

Safer screen time

Use Parental Controls to restrict usage time or fully block calls, texts, apps or websites. Verizon Family provides info about calls and texts sent and received over the cellular network. It does not monitor activity through iMessage, Google Messages or other third-party messaging and calling apps.

Eyes on the road

Driving Insights provides post-trip reports of sudden braking or acceleration, plus notifications of crashes.

Verizon Family is a service that helps manage your dependents' smartphone or connected tablet use.

With Verizon Family Plus, you can manage all compatible devices on the same Verizon mobile account from a single app:

How much does Verizon Family cost?

Verizon Family is included at no additional cost when you have a Verizon standard postpaid monthly mobile account. Verizon Family Plus is $14.99/month per account.

Verizon Smart Family ($4.99/month) and Verizon Smart Family Premium ($9.99/month) are no longer available to add to accounts.

Note: If you have the Just Kids plan*, Verizon Smart Family Premium* is included and you're already signed up. Verizon Family Plus is not available for Just Kids' plans.

Who is eligible to get Verizon Family?

You can get Verizon Family or Verizon Family Plus if you have:

A standard postpaid monthly Verizon mobile account with 10 or fewer lines

An Android smartphone (7.0 and newer) or iOS (15.0 or newer)

An Android tablet (7.0 and newer)

An Apple iPad (15.0 or newer)

To check your eligibility, go to the Services & perks page in My Verizon. If Verizon Family is listed there, you can sign up for it.

Good to know: Business and prepaid accounts aren't eligible to get Verizon Family.

How do I get the app and sign up for Verizon Family?

To subscribe to Verizon Family:

Good to know: If you have the Just Kids plan, Verizon Smart Family Premium is already included with your plan. Just Kids is no longer available to add to accounts. Verizon Family Plus is not available for Just Kids’ plans.

Legal Notice: To utilize the Verizon Family app, a standard monthly postpaid Verizon account on a compatible device or an invitation from a Verizon account is necessary. Verizon postpaid mobile plans inherently include location sharing capabilities within Verizon Family at no additional charge, or one can opt for Verizon Family Plus ($14.99/month until canceled) for enhanced location sharing and alert services, parental controls for communication and online activities, driving insights, and roadside assistance. Roadside assistance provided by Signature Motor Club, limited to 4 events per year. Downloading the Verizon Family app is required and is compatible with iOS and Android devices only. The service does not monitor internet-based calls or texts and is not able to contact 911 for crash or SOS notifications. It's essential to enable push notifications to be alerted when new members are added to the family account. Some alerts may be sent via text message with applicable messaging and data charges.
