1 VLC for Android

There isn't a more widely used video player within the Windows crowd than VLC player. It doesn't matter what video file users throw at it; the open-sourced app supports MKV, MP4, MOV, AVI, OGG files, and more. Android users can get that same experience through the VLC for Android app. You also get the ability to stream video content from home networks, which means individuals with high-capacity storage for videos on their desktops can stream with ease. VLC is also great for listening to music; it has a built-in equalizer and playlist support.

2 RealPlayer

RealPlayer has gone through multiple iterations since its original release back in 1995. Today, RealPlayer is a versatile video player for Windows, Android, and iOS operating systems. RealPlayer lets you play media from your phone or tablet and cast content to your Chromecast device.

Better yet, the app syncs content across all of your devices. That said, while many features don't require a purchase, RealPlayer does hide some of its more sought-after features behind a paywall. Depending on your chosen subscription plan, prices start at $2.99 per month.

It sounds like a fair price, considering you can access 25GB of cloud storage, simultaneous downloads, DVD burning, and much more.

3 Video Player - OPlayer

OPlayer is capable of playing almost every media format known to man. From video formats like AVI and MKV to audio formats including MP3 and FLAC. Among its more noteworthy features, OPlayer supports 4K video and hardware acceleration.

Regarding Android's accessibility tools, the app supports gesture unlock and casting to Chromecast devices. OPlayer also syncs all of your media across PC and mobile devices. 4 Video Player All Format - InShot Inc.

InShot Inc. is known for creating some of the most useful apps for social media content curators on Android, including YouCut, Photo Editor Pro, and Screen Recorder. The developer also made a massive splash with Video Player All Format, formerly known as XPlayer.

Besides the capability to play numerous video and audio codecs, Video Player All Format also offers Android-specific features like Chromecast support and the ability to play videos in a pop-up window for multitasking. Media controls are ramped up with the ability to change playback speed and zoom.

And most importantly, users who want to keep their videos private can set passwords for videos and albums to keep snoops out for good.

5 MX Player

Though licensing issues prevent MX Player from officially supporting codecs like DTS and AC3, it's still a powerful media player with enough unique features to remain a top contender. Parents whose children tend to use their tablets and phones will be glad to know the app features a kids lock. This ensures children can watch videos through the app without accidentally making phone calls or jumping to other apps.

For those who own a powerful enough phone like the Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel, hardware acceleration, and multi-core decoding ensure playback is a smooth experience, even for the most demanding files. Due to the open source nature of the app, there are downloadable custom codecs if the standard codecs built into the app aren't enough for your needs.

6 Playit-All in One Video Player

Playit-All in One Video Player supports a variety of audio and video codecs. However, there are plenty of other valuable features that Android users are sure to enjoy. This includes the ability to download videos directly from Facebook, Instagram, Dailymotion, and Vimeo.

Regarding network capabilities, aPlayer can cast videos to Chromecast, FireTV and play videos from other devices through FTP.

When it comes to the app itself, there are various media controls, from equalizers to playback speed settings in addition to gesture inputs. aPlayer also offers a screen lock setting, too, great for those times when you're too distracted to unlock the phone.

8 Video Player - Recorder & Music Apps

It also offers a robust equalizer for audio if you like to use a player for all your media needs. A five-band equalizer features a bass boost, 3D reverb effects, a visualizer, and ten audio presets. For videos, there's even a pop-up tool for watching content while using other apps.

9 Archos Video Player

Archos Video Player can play various formats from a mobile device's internal storage, multimedia server, or external USB storage. Depending on the video file, there's also an automatic online retrieval of descriptions and posters.

For individuals who want to keep their media consumption secret, a private mode won't record playback history. Besides existing as a free ad-supported app, a paid version unlocks even more features and removes those pesky ads.

10 BSPlayer

Another ad-supported player on the list, there's much to appreciate with the base version of BSPlayer. At a base level, there's multi-core hardware acceleration support to help reduce battery consumption alongside other features.

There's an excellent in-video customization tool to change brightness, hue, contrast, and saturation. If you want to watch a monochrome version of The Avengers: Endgame, it's possible to do it through BSPlayer.

Bought the full version of a video player but it only plays MP4 videos well. Most of my files are in MKV format, so it's not as useful for me. The playback is out of sync - video lags while sound plays normally. Can't fix it by adjusting settings. It's frustrating to watch anything with this issue.

The video player is really good with many nice features. I usually watch lectures that are about an hour or two long. Sometimes when I exit the app and let it play in the background, then return to the video, there will be an ad playing. Once the ad finishes, the video starts over, and I have to locate my position again. It's quite irritating, especially for long videos like these lectures.

The app is good. It would be better if we could have subfolders for shows with multiple seasons to avoid clutter on the main screen. It'd also be helpful if viewers could add episode descriptions for quick reference when the name or icon doesn't give much away.

This app is amazing! You can easily zoom in and out using two fingers while playing or pausing. There's a screenshot button that captures the original frame. When you zoom in, use the phone system to save the enlarged image. Slide your finger on the screen to get a precise point in the video. Sliding vertically adjusts the brightness. The ads are not intrusive.

It's like VLC but with some extra player controls. I downloaded it because it allows me to sort files by date. However, I wish I could reorder multiple selected files instead of just moving them up or down one at a time. The ads are not too bothersome. I might consider purchasing it if they improve the feature to reorder multiple files at once. Also, I recently discovered that it has a downloader which works well for me on one website. That's definitely a bonus.

I finally found this awesome video player after trying out many other options. The ads are not annoying at all. It has great settings and an easy-to-use interface. You can choose from different aspect ratios and lock the rotation easily. I can't find any faults with it. It really does everything you need in a video player. Thank you!
