A MODERN WAY TO TRAVEL

Voi offers a fresh level of transport for urban residents seeking flexibility without harming the environment. Ditch the subway, bus, or car (and avoid the parking hassle!) for a shared electric scooter or e-bike and glide through the city in style, all while leaving behind zero carbon emissions. Cruising on an e-scooter or e-bike is the perfect way to discover a new city or see your hometown from a different angle.

What do the different zones in the Voi app mean?

To ensure safe operations, we created different types of zones in the Voi app. These zones were decided with the support of local authorities and based on the accessibility of the areas, traffic intensity, infrastructure, demand, etc. Learn more about our zones below.

Voi

Slow-Speed Zones - The yellow areas on the Voi map are slow zones. These are mapped out in certain areas where you shouldn’t ride as fast, and where your Voi e-scooter will automatically run slightly slower. Whether you’re inside a slow zone or not, you should always be aware of your surroundings, pedestrians, and other road users.

Voi

Great Parking Spots - Green areas marked with a P are prime parking spots. If you park here, you’ll get a credit to use toward your next ride.

 Voi

Mandatory Parking Spots - In some cities, you’re only allowed to park in conveniently located, designated parking spots (indicated in blue). Plan your journey before you ride to find the best spot at the end.

Voi

No Parking Zones - It’s not appropriate or permitted to end your ride in certain places. That’s why we have no parking zones, where you won’t be able to end your ride. Leaving a scooter in one of these areas will lead to a penalty of £25.

 Voi

No Riding Zones - The grey areas are no-riding zones. You must not ride or park a scooter in these areas.

 Voi

Outside the Voi Zone - It’s against the rules to ride a Voi outside the Voi Zone. A thick red line delineates the end of the Voi Zone from the surrounding area. Your scooter will come to a complete stop, and you won’t be able to end your ride. Move it to a place where you’re allowed to park. Leaving a scooter outside the Voi zone will lead to a penalty of £25.

How it works

1. Get the app and create an account.

2. Locate a nearby vehicle on the map.

3. Unlock it by scanning its QR code.

4. Hop on and get anywhere in a flash.

Users Guide

1. How do I park a Voi?

Before parking, consider the following:

Am I obstructing a pedestrian walkway, cycle lane, crosswalk, driveway, or building entrance?

Voi           Voi

Am I parking on private property?

Voi

Is this location inaccessible to others who may want to use the scooter?

Voi

All of these are significant no-nos. While some individuals might find it amusing to park scooters in inaccessible locations or throw them into waterways, riders may incur fines, bans, and other forms of prosecution for vandalism and poor parking behavior.

Here are some tips on how to park correctly:

Park on the street along a pavement, parallel and close to a wall, in a bike rack, or within a designated parking zone. Please refer to the specific parking rules for your city on our website;

Use the kickstand to ensure the scooter remains standing upright;

Ensure not to block any access ramps, bus stops, crosswalks, or entrances, or in any other way obstruct public areas;

Pay attention to the red areas on the map (no-parking zones where you won't be able to park) or the mandatory parking spots (in selected cities).

2. The app won’t let me end my ride, what do I do?

The most important things to check if you are having issues ending your ride are:

Check if you are in an allowed parking spot. If you’re not in an allowed parking spot, use the app to locate the closest allowed parking area and bring the scooter there to end your ride.

In some cities, you may have designated parking spots that you must park at whereas in other cities, you can park anywhere so long as it's not a no-parking zone or no-riding zone. You can check our website to find the specific parking rules for your city.

If you're in a city where you must park at a designated parking spot, these spots will appear as a blue 'P' in the app:

Voi

If you're in a city where you can park anywhere except for in no-parking zones or no-riding zones, make sure to avoid the red or grey areas in the app:

Voi

Make sure you’re standing right next to the scooter.

Restart the app and try ending the ride again.

Make sure you have the latest version of the app installed.

If you’re still unable to end your ride after checking each of the above steps, please contact us via our chat directly in the app for the quickest help in ending your ride.

GETTING STARTED IS EASY:

1.Download the Voi app for free and create an account.

2.Locate a nearby e-scooter or e-bike using the app's map.

3.Unlock the vehicle by scanning the QR code on the handlebar.

4.Hop on the e-scooter or e-bike and ride away to your destination in no time.

ROAD SAFETY BEGINS WITH YOU

Safety on the road is everyone’s duty. Your actions while riding an electric scooter or e-bike impact not only yourself but also other road users. Let’s make sure we do it right!

Prior to starting your journey on an e-scooter or e-bike, familiarize yourself with the road rules. Stick to bike lanes or near the side curb, and avoid riding on sidewalks. Never ride under the influence, wear a helmet at all times to safeguard your head, and remember - only one rider per e-scooter or e-bike.

NEW TO E-SCOOTERS?

If you are inexperienced with electric scooters, activate reduced-speed mode in the app. This sets a maximum speed limit on the scooter, enabling you to start off slowly as you learn to operate the vehicle.

PARKING YOUR E-SCOOTER OR E-BIKE – KNOW THE RULES

Correct parking ensures safety and accessibility. Stay informed about local regulations concerning e-scooter and e-bike parking – and adhere to them. Always park the vehicle upright using the kickstand and avoid obstructing pedestrians, cyclists, or other vehicles.

Imagine this, my schooner suddenly stopped working in the middle of the night in a not-so-nice area. The battery still had 33% left but the color turned red. I had to walk home after a long flight and transfer. And to top it off, I had to push it with the breaks on to the nearest parking spot so I could end the ride on the app. I'm so frustrated with this situation.

It's not a good idea if you want to get somewhere quickly. You have to find a place to park and we found about four that were full until we could dismount. The scooter kept disabling when my phone got far from it. We had to switch because mine had a broken phone holder and I had to use the sat nav. So we ended up getting confused about if our batteries were dying until we intuitively figured out it was proximity when riding. It's not fun pushing this to a free spot while totally confused.

Scanning my ID was a nightmare, tried 3 devices and took over 30 minutes. The vehicles are awful, the phone holder doesn't work and damaged my phone. The location control is dangerous, the scooter cuts out if you go out of the zone. Need to walk half a mile to park it. Avoid this service!

The camera in the app keeps sending blurry versions of my driver's license to the VOI office for verification, even though they look very clear on my phone - taken in daylight with no reflections. It's a pity, as I really like the e-scooter transportation system in Liverpool. I used Lime e-scooters in Frankfurt and had a smoother experience there.

Scooter isn't good. Hard to find one, easy to get a bad one. Found myself far with a dead scooter. Support helps but too late.

I used those scooters today for the first time. Overall, it was okay, but there are some things that could be better. First, the meter should start running when the wheels move, not just when the QR code scans. This way, you don't waste money trying to get the scooter out of a busy parking spot. Second, it would be safer if the scooters had indicators since right turns without them can be dangerous. Finally, it would be more reasonable if the price was 10p per minute, as it is barely cheaper than taking the bus.

Our first experience wasn't great. Three of us went for a ride, and it was the first time for all of us. Two of us had issues with verifying our driving licenses and taking selfies. We also had trouble getting our debit/credit cards to work. Now we have multiple £5 pending charges on our accounts from trying to ride the scooters. And one of us got some passive-aggressive emails about parking, even though we parked the scooter the same as the others. I contacted VOI support, waiting for their response.

I live in Bristol. Today, my main phone ran out of battery, so I tried to switch the app to my backup phone. However, they said I wasn't allowed to do that. After emailing them, they warned me not to try it again or face punishment. It's ridiculous, right? Besides, their prices are way too high, even more expensive than taking a bus. Lack of competition leads to such poor service. Zero stars for them!

At first, I was doubtful because I saw them left all over the place. But today, I finally decided to try it out. It was fantastic! Why can't people park properly, though? I parked at the bike rack by the train station, which was neat, tidy, and easy for the next person to use.
