Volvo Cars - Car locator & maintenance

Here's a story for you! So, there's this app that doesn't really do much except show if your car is charged and can let you unlock it from far away. But every time I get a new update for my car, the app just disconnects from it and won't connect again. Even though I've tried everything to fix it, ever since the last update, I haven't been able to reconnect them. The time before this, I had to go to the dealer, and after a few tries, they managed to fix it. It's really surprising because my car can do almost anything except fly, but the app is just not up to par.

The app works fine, but signing in takes a long time every time you open it. You would hope that an app for car access and alarm response would be quicker. Also, the home screen widgets stopped working a few months ago, which is disappointing.

The remote start feature isn't reliable. It keeps saying the ignition key is inside the vehicle. The app can't process map intentions, so you can't send a destination from other apps to your car. You're unable to schedule a service appointment. The lock function in notifications rarely functions. The widgets don't resemble what they're intended to and are ineffective. The app is awful and deteriorating with every update. The quality control is terrible. The previous version was much better.

So, after two days of trying, I finally managed to download the app. But now it's not working. There was this option for an "older view" which I chose just out of curiosity. And now, I can't seem to switch back to the newer version. All I have on my screen are "weather" and "fuel" but they're not showing any data. I can't start the car, lock it, or even find its location using this version.

Ugh, this app is so annoying! It only works like a third of the time. My subscription ends next month and I'm not gonna shell out $200 for it. I can barely use the remote start feature, and when I do, it's hit or miss. Plus, it's way faster for me to just use my keys to unlock the car than waiting for the app to jolt awake. It keeps nagging me about renewing my subscription, but the link doesn't even do anything. Save your cash!

A lot of things don't work. When my subscription ends, I won't renew it. An update was done on 4/4/24. Now, my car can't start remotely unless it's plugged in. But if it's plugged in, it's probably in a garage, which doesn't make sense.

I'm feeling really frustrated because the app is not as good for my 2022 XC60 as it was for my 2020 S60. The car and maps icons are missing now. I can't see detailed information about my car, rename it, find where it's parked, or view my driving history anymore. It doesn't make sense that a newer, pricier car using Android would have such a limited app. I'm so let down.

I feel really disappointed because the app got updated, and now it seems like most of its features are not working for me. I used to be able to set the parking climate and start my vehicle remotely, but those options are gone now. When I reached out to the help desk, all they did was reset the app, making me re-enter all my information and sign in again. Unfortunately, none of the features are working despite all the effort I put in.

I understand that you are frustrated with the current Volvo Cars app. It used to offer more features like viewing car stats, setting timers, sending addresses to maps, and tracking gas mileage on your previous Volvo. Now, the app only allows you to control climate settings and lock/unlock doors, which is not sufficient given the technological advancements available in vehicles today. Despite updating the car and reinstalling the app, it seems that the desired features are still unavailable. This has left you disappointed and dissatisfied. Perhaps returning to the older version of the Volvo app would be a better solution for your needs.

Oh, the frustration is just too much. This fancy-schmancy car, so high-tech and safe, but the app, oh it's just terrible. It's just mind-boggling how awful it is. It's 2022, come on now, making a decent app shouldn't be rocket science for anyone, especially not a big-shot luxury car company like Volvo. The app used to show it was connected to my car, but now none of the features like starting the car remotely, adjusting the climate, or locking/unlocking the doors work at all. So disappointing, Volvo.
