CONS

Certain results aren’t reliable

Identify fonts in a snap! Take a photo of a design you love - WhatTheFont is a font identifier that will tell you what fonts were used.

Great for designers, crafters, anyone who loves typography, and anyone who's ever asked "what the font?!" Perfect for when you see a great design and want to identify the fonts, or when your client sends you an image but doesn't know what fonts were used.

Take a snap of font with ease

WhatTheFont’s user interface is simple and straightforward. It requires no learning curve as it can be effortlessly navigated even by beginners and non-tech savvy users. Once you’ve launched the app and agreed on their terms and conditions, you will be redirected to a home page that shows a camera, which you can use to capture the font design you want to know. You can take photos with or without a flash. Moreover, you can also upload photos from your gallery.

Once you’ve uploaded the image of the font design you are looking for, the app will highlight all the text fonts it recognized. For best search results, it is advisable for you to select one line of text and font per box—at the same time, you should ensure that your text is straight. Click the “Next” button in the middle once you’ve selected a font design. It will then lead you to a long list of font designs that match the font in your photo. You can browse through it and get font inspiration and ideas for your future projects.

Furthermore, it also allows you to try and type out a certain word in the fonts you found and see what it looks like on the spot. WhatTheFont is AI-powered, thus, you can expect it to be fast, sleek, and easy to use. However, there are quite a huge number of times where bugs and glitches occur. In addition, the results it shows are sometimes not efficient as it presents font designs that are far from what it looks like.

Browse and get inspirations

WhatTheFont is still a recommended tool to download even if its browse results are not highly reliable at times. It is still a worthy app as it enables you to get design ideas for your creative projects. The app showcases tons of stunning and elegant font styles that can fit the design you are working on. It just needs to improve the accuracy of its search results to be a phenomenal app for designers or anyone who has an interest in typography.

- Type out words in the fonts you find – enter your own text to try them out on the spot.

- Get ideas and inspiration for font options for your projects.

- Learn the names of cool fonts.

- Browse fonts similar to the one in your image.

WhatTheFont is powered by AI, making it fast and easy to use. Brought to you by the friendly people at MyFonts.

It's really helpful for identifying the font name. Though it may not always be completely precise, which is okay.

Oh man, I tried using the app, and it just wouldn't cooperate. Every time I pointed my camera at a font, it would disappear when the app processed the image. It happened over and over again, not just once. It almost feels like the whole purpose was to make sure it didn't work properly.

I'm glad you like the app! The fonts are quite precise. It would be awesome to have a feature that can scan text on the screen and identify the font used.

I love typefaces! They help me discover the names of fonts I am not familiar with. It's such a wonderful tool.

Using it is a breeze and it works impressively! Nothing more to say, it's great!

This app looks really nice, but it can't recognize any of the fonts for me. It's helpful for suggesting new fonts to use, but it doesn't work for the fonts that are commonly found in Microsoft Office or other standard document software.

I spent time trying out an app. But, it didn't help at all. I used a paper with a strange font on it, but the app couldn't work it out. Then, I tried printing a page with Comic Sans and Arial fonts. The app couldn't even recognize these common fonts. It left me feeling let down.
