Walkthrough, tips and techniques

Wings of Steel

Fire Accuracy:

Heading aim circle:

When a hostile (enemy aircraft) is in range (you can hit with your weapons), switch to the cockpit view, drop the throttle to 50% to 75%, a small circle will appear in front of their plane at which you should aim and fire, this circle betrays the enemy’s heading (direction).

during tight turning curves, you may find it more accurate to fire slightly in front of (before) the heading circle.

during a wide turning curve, it is more accurate to fire slightly after (behind) the aim circle.

Continuous vs Burst firing techniques:

Continuous firing is better while turning, especially wide turns.

Burst firing is better when the enemy is flying straight ahead.

Flying views:

Cockpit view: is better for aiming and firing.

Above airplane view: is better for monitoring the enemy activity, dropping bombs, torpedoes, and landing (eventually).

The radar (visible in both mentioned views): gives you a clear idea about the enemy locations and their heading, it is very useful, you will learn to use it.

Turning in a dogfight:

One tactic to use in turning is to turn upwards until the plane in inverted then correct your level, it is quicker, while it can make the top of you plane vulnerable to pursuers (so make sure you don’t have any of them before attempting such a turn, by glancing at the radar).

Beware of the hunting maneuvers, in which a hostile is dragging you behind them, while their team is on your tail, aligning to shoot you down.

Evasive maneuvers and avoiding getting shot down:

When you are being pursued, you have one of two tried and true tactics:

Turn into the enemy and drop the altitude and blast underneath them, which will cause them to waste time turning.

Drop the speed to 75% or less and the altitude to 200 or less (100 is preferred), unless they are directly on your tail, this will make their shots pass over you harmlessly.

Lastly, use your radar and make sure that your enemies are not lined up behind you.

I found this app quite simple, like most apps. It's not too complex, but it has become my favorite flight simulator. I've tried many others. I really enjoy the free flight mode as it offers a lot of fun activities. You can land on a Japanese aircraft carrier, buzz an American destroyer, practice touch-and-go landings at a military airfield, fly low through trees and buildings, or just explore the countryside. The experience never gets boring, which is great. Give it a try!

The game is really awesome. It's fun and feels like real life. The only issue I have is that not all the ads let you close them. When you want to replay a level, it costs fuel to play, then you see an ad. Since you can't close the ad, you end up closing the game. When you reopen it, you've still lost 6 fuel, and it takes 30 minutes to get it back.

You know, it's kinda frustrating when I can't tell if those upgrades are helping me or my opponents. It feels like the game AI is just getting stronger and stronger, almost like it's learning from my moves. And don't get me started on that one challenge where they make it impossible to fly fast enough! I was stuck on that level for ages until I finally saved up enough to get a better plane. It seems like if you're willing to spend money, you can easily win the game. But for someone like me who plays casually, it's not that easy.

The game is awesome, better than the others I've played. The stick control is a bit tricky, my thumb slips off easily. It would be great if it was more portable. Owning planes and not being able to use them right away is frustrating. You end up doing missions over and over just to buy a better one. Then there's the cost - spending $30 on only one plane is a bit much. Lastly, the HUD could use some improvement. It's hard to see the reticle at times, especially since you can't change the colors.

I found a great flight simulator app. The controls are not too simple, which makes it feel very realistic. It doesn't have all the pedals and instruments, but you really need to get a sense of the plane or you won't stay in the air for long. It also gives me a lot of respect for the "greatest generation" and what they achieved. Thank you for both adventures!

Graphics and flight control are good. Two areas for improvement: 1) Game abruptly ends if plane goes out of bounds without warning due to unidentified bounds. 2) Throttle control issue - goes from 100% to zero easily on smartphones. Manual take-off/landing is enjoyed, but instruments like horizon indicator and attitude would be nice additions.

The flight game is amazing! This is my second time playing it, and it's just as good as the first time. I lost my money and upgrades, maybe because I didn't save on Facebook, but no worries - this is definitely the best flying game I've ever played. I've tried many others, but this one is truly exceptional.

The game starts off well with impressive graphics and effects. However, most missions involve facing endless waves of enemies all on your own. Both campaigns feel almost identical as they just switch up the mission order. Upgrading to a better plane by purchasing one is reasonable, but being required to upgrade your current plane out of need is frustrating. Despite being free-to-play, repeatedly failing the same missions can be tiresome. I've already spent $40 and still can't succeed. I'm determined to beat it without spending another penny!
