Guide for new
World of robots is a simple game. You get a giant mech, upgrade it, buy it guns, upgrade those too and you go kill enemies for more coins to upgrade your bots, buy more of them and buy better guns. It's got WASD movement and the generic control format. I still haven't figured out how to make the mouse visible during the game to use the emotes.
Quick guide on distances.
Knife range 0-50 meters
Close range 51-200 meters
Mid range- 200-300
Long range 300-400
Very long range 401+
Currently in the game there are 2... let's call them suppliers.... for your mechs. the USSR and USA.
The USSR mechs are close range brawlers and mid range fighters almost exclusively. You buy these and you'll always be in the thick of it constantly pushing forwards, flanking if lucky and generally dealing burst damage. Just remember that you can dodge and so can your enemies, you would be surprised how many people forget that they can fire and move.
The ideal noob friendly guns for you are the:
- Volcano, for early fast shooting sustained damage,
-The Shotgun, for close range destruction and burst damage
- The Ripper for mid to late-game sustained damage.
The ideal modules are
-The PPC combined with shotguns to stun your enemy and pepper them with bullets.
-MLRS combined with Ripper or Volcano guns. It might not look like much but a knife range Dual MLRS volley can kill most enemies and if your enemies are close enough together you can turn two full health enemies to scrap,
- Repair pack/nano repair. Either of them is fine, but you need to pick between them. Repair pack fixes you up between engagements, essentially allowing you to survive more fights. Nano repair is useful for when you're in team and you want to play support.
The other guns/modules are NOT USELESS, but in order to get good use out of them you need a lot of experience and time or $$$ to unlock them. The stuff I recommend you are the noob friendly stuff that you can use regardless of your expertise level.
The USA arms supplier provides you long ranged support, very long ranged support and mid ranged sustained damage. It can provide other stuff but as I mentioned above you need to have played a lot of the game and get a lot of experience to get proper use out of those. This is the Noob friendly guide not a min-max guide.
The mechs provided by the USA got shields which regen early from a module but they feel more fragile in a fight. Ideally you'll use them from range to either snipe your enemies, or ambush them from afar. They're not helpless in close range, but they start suffering in medium range and closer. The ideal noob playstyle is to keep your distance and pepper your enemies with potshots while occasionally getting closer for ambushes and if your aim is not that good.
Decent guns for it would be the following.
-Z23-Superior. Decent sustained damage, can fire up to long range and it'll never fail you. Good if you don't have a defined role and want to test things out. It can serve any role you need it to.
- PR3 Plasma. Excellent sustained-burst hybrid damage(each shot doesn't do much damage but a clip of them does enough and you can fire fast), can rip through your enemies in mid range and even long range but you need very good aim. Fast recharge time, excellent for skirmishers or to deal damage on your enemy fast then running for cover.
-M30L Tempest. Mid range rocket launcher. Awesome burst damage if you can get all your shots to hit but while still noob friendly it requires a bit more thought on when to fire.
The ideal modules are
-ECBM1 Dome, it's your shield, never leave without it.
-RG1 Rail, good burst damage at medium to long range. Excellent for finishing off enemies or make them panic after you destroyed half to a quarter of their health with a Dual Rail hit. Never gets useless and it's easy to use with whatever you want to.
-M70 Hellfire. It's got a range of 500 meters and a minimum range. I recommend using it in the 300-500 meter range. Massive damage, slow projectiles. If you manage to get a 100% hit rate with this thing you're a God, if you can't it's still got a massive damage and even 2-4 hits from it's 15 strong magazine are enough to out DPS just about every single other module the USA arms dealer offers, and you get 15 of them per magazine with AOE damage. This is the one module it never stops being useful regardless of your skill level but beware as certain maps make it more difficult to use.
Also let me give a honorable mention to the Minelayer for the highest damage in the game both in one shot and overall. It is not noob friendly, but it can and will be worth using if you're smart about it and aren't otherwise good at the game or you're spiritually more closely aligned with trolls than anything respectable.

About the game
Equipment: Easy and intuitive. Each robot (at least those available when your account is level 0-3) has 2 gun spots (right/left), a low-center mount point, and a high-center mount point. The guns don't seem to differentiate between small/medium/large (at least yet). The center mounts can hold supportive items (physical or energy shields or a repair module) or longer-recharge weaponry (particle cannon, long range rockets, short range rockets, mines) with the weaponry having a timer for recharge rather than being triggered via damage or beacon grabbing.
Upgrades: As with most other mech games, each item takes resources (gold is the primary currency) to upgrade and can be accelerated by the use of gems. One thing worth noting is that there is a leveling cap based on your account level.
Getting access to gear: As your account levels, you get more of the tech tree exposed. As you can see below, there are currently two options. You can choose from both. Worth noting is that you can't equip the Russian gear on the American mechs and vice versa. Also, it appears that the Russian mechs are slightly faster whereas the American stuff is larger and possibly hits harder. Miniguns vs cannons, for example. I haven't done an apples-to-apples comparison on equivalent damage, though.
Important tips:
- The game necessitates an Internet connection; utilize wifi for optimal comfort.
- Earned coins and unlocked tanks are saved on your device. DO NOT UNINSTALL THE GAME before the update, or all progress WILL BE LOST!
We hope you enjoy the game and wish you luck in the arenas of World of Robots!
