FAQ

Q: What is the cancellation and refund policy?

A: Entry Fees are forfeited and non-refundable from the relevant event's closing date. If an injury notification is delivered in writing to the relevant WSL Regional Office prior to 7 days before the relevant event start date, and an approved medical certificate can be produced, the competitor will receive a refund less a US$50 administration fee. All cancellations of event entries must be in writing to a WSL Regional Office. Medical certificates must be dated and produced no later than 48 hours after the respective cancellation or injury notification.

Q: I received an email when I registered for an event, so am I confirmed?

A: No. The email you get only confirms that the registration was received. Entries are confirmed after the close date. Always check the seed list or entry list after the close date to see if you are confirmed or wait listed.

Your credit card is charged for the entry fee only after the event close date and you are confirmed in the event.

Q: What type of insurance is offered?

A: The policies are supplementary personal accident and travel insurance supplied by Willis Insurance Brokers. This means it does NOT cover health benefit insurance that you should obtain in your own country of residence that would cover any medical costs. WSL is not the insurer, we have just facilitated policies that cover our members for competing in professional surfing events.

Q: Do I have to purchase insurance?

A: Yes. To compete in your country of residence, you must purchase the Domestic Medical Cover.

If you are competing outside your country of residence, you must purchase one of the policies offered (additional to the Domestic Medical Cover). Your usual government or private health coverage will not apply.

Q: How do I file and insurance claim?

A: You can access a claim form from your account. Select the three (3) red lines in the top right corner of the page. Select MEMBERSHIPS to see the insurance information options.

    I tried the new upgrade, and it's just awful. I can't find anything good about it. Everything seems more buggy, less easy to use, and more frustrating. The highlights feature is a mess now. It feels like they want you to watch everything live to see any clip at all. The live feed is full of glitches, keeps repeating segments, and randomly stops - especially after commercials. I'm really let down by the way things are going with this now.

    You know, I used this feature a lot before, but now the app doesn't let me use picture-in-picture mode anymore. I liked having it as a small screen so I could multitask on my phone while using the app, but now I have to stay in the app and do nothing else. It's kind of inconvenient.

    So, about this app. It's set up nice and simple, easy to handle. I appreciate being able to pick rounds/heats/individual waves. But here's the thing - when I click on a video, I keep getting hit with a 15-30 second ad, mostly the same ones playing again and again. I get it, watching ads for the first few videos, but every time? And then they get longer? It's frustrating, especially when the ad is way longer than the video itself. The old version didn't have so many ads - this is too much!

    So, the app used to be awesome. But now? It's just plain awful. This new version is completely pointless.

    You know, I really love this app. However, ever since I got my Samsung S8 with the latest software update, it keeps saying that the video is not supported. It's frustrating because I end up missing out on all the events and updates when I don't have Wi-Fi. I used to be able to watch videos anywhere, anytime just like the app promised, but now I can't anymore. If someone could help me fix this issue, I'd definitely give it 5 stars again. Thank you so much.

    The app is pretty good, but there seems to be a mistake made by the developers. I noticed that when I tap on the fantasy tab positioned at the top left, it redirects me to the account settings instead. Then I have to navigate to the tab located on the right within the account settings to finally reach the fantasy page. It seems like the link in the app is not working correctly. Even after the update, this issue hasn't been fixed yet.

    It seems like you might have accidentally added some bugs instead of getting rid of them. When you turn your phone during a live stream, it takes you back to the main menu. Moreover, there's this constant push to download the app. Why not just pause and appreciate what you've built at WSL? It feels like business deals and money are now affecting your decision-making from when you first started. I really hope there won't be an annual fee coming up soon. Remember, most of your viewers are teenagers.

    This app is amazing, truly five stars! The only thing that bothers me is the backward button. Whenever I press back on my phone by mistake, instead of going to the app button, it takes me straight to the desktop. It's so annoying! But besides that, the app is fantastic.
