What is Yatzy?

Yatzy is a popular dice game similar to Yacht and Yahtzee. It's closely related to the Latin American game Generala and the English game of poker dice. Yatzy enjoys immense popularity, especially in the Nordic countries, and offers a delightful blend of luck and strategy.

🎇 Roll & Reroll

How to Play: Yatzy can be played solitaire or with any number of players. Players take turns rolling five dice, choosing which dice to keep and which to reroll up to two times per turn.

Scoring: Each turn, players must assign a score or zero to one of the score boxes. The game continues until all score boxes are filled, with the player achieving the highest total score emerging as the winner.

🎇 Maximum Score

Perfect Score: The maximum possible score in Yatzy is 374 points, achieved by scoring maximum values in all categories, including the 50-point bonus in the Upper Section.

🎉 Upper Section

Ones to Sixes: Score the sum of dice showing 1 to 6, respectively. Achieve a bonus of 50 points if you score at least 63 points in this section.

🎉 Lower Section

One Pair: Two dice showing the same number.

Two Pairs: Two different pairs of dice.

Three of a Kind: Three dice showing the same number.

Four of a Kind: Four dice with the same number.

Small Straight: The sequence 1-2-3-4-5, scoring 15 points.

Large Straight: The sequence 2-3-4-5-6, scoring 20 points.

Full House: Three of a kind plus a pair.

Chance: Any combination of dice, scoring the sum of all the dice.

Yatzy: All five dice showing the same number, earning 50 points.

How Yahtzee Differs from Yatzy

🎇 Different Scoring Rules

Upper Section Bonus: Yahtzee awards 35 points for reaching 63 or more points, compared to Yatzy’s 50-point bonus.

No "One Pair" or "Two Pairs" Categories: Unlike Yatzy, Yahtzee omits these categories.

Different Scoring for Multiples: In Yahtzee, "Three of a Kind" and "Four of a Kind" are scored using the total of all dice, not just the matching ones.

Fixed Scores for Straights & Full House: Small and Large Straights, and Full House scores, are fixed in Yahtzee.

Additional Yahtzee Bonuses: Yahtzee introduces bonus points and special rules for scoring multiple Yahtzees.

    I used to really like this app, but it crashes often. I tried reinstalling it a few times, and it works for a while before crashing again. After an update on June 19, 2020, I realized that the crashes were happening because I saved it to my SD card. When I saved it to internal storage, the app worked fine with no issues. But when I moved it back to the external SD card, it started crashing again. This problem has been there since I downloaded the app. Luckily, I enjoy playing this game app, or else I would have deleted it a long time ago. Can you please fix this issue?

    When I play the game, the screen turns white out of nowhere, but I can still hear the sound. I have to close the game and open it again, which results in losing the progress. It has been happening for three days, and if I reinstall, I will lose all my stats. This keeps occurring repeatedly; seeing a white screen with ads, closing it, but the issue persists. I've been playing this game for years, but I have had enough. If this problem isn't resolved, I will uninstall.

    Everything was fine until tonight when I began seeing these LendingTree ads that wouldn't close, making it impossible for me to play the game. The only way to fix this is to force close the app and restart it (and pray that I don't get the annoying ad again). So far, I've encountered this ad five times in a row tonight and each time I had to force quit the game to make it go away. If this isn't resolved, I will uninstall the app and look for another version to play.

    I gave it one star, but it actually doesn't deserve any stars. It's so easy to predict what will happen next when I have to put a zero in a play. If there is no score in a certain category, most of the time I end up rolling the required number on the next turn. Sometimes, there are more than 4 yatzees rolled in just one game. It seems like these games cannot truly replicate the randomness of playing the game in real life. The bot usually seems to be winning most of the time. Even though you're supposed to play against random players, they are actually bots as well. I've tried many yatze games but none of them seem to work properly.

    The game is fun and perfect for passing the time. I hope the dice could roll a bit longer because often when re-rolling, you get the same number again. It would be nice if there was an option for the dice to spin longer or just continue spinning a bit longer to prevent that from happening. The game would then definitely deserve five stars! The animations are amazing and being able to see how many points you need in the boxes before playing is great.

    This game is so cool, the graphics are amazing. But I think it could be even better with some updates. It would be awesome if we could add other players as friends instead of waiting for random opponents. I've had some great matches and I really want to play them again. Also, it would be nice if players could use usernames instead of random numbers. Overall, it's a fantastic app.
