How To Change Your Home Area

Your Home Area is tied to your zip code, thus, YouTube TV uses it to determine which programs and networks to show you. You can watch, stream, and record any network available in your Home Area.

We recommend changing your Home Area if (and only if) you have plans to live in a different zip code for an extended period – let’s say six months – because you can change it only twice per year. After we hit our twice per year limit, YouTube made us wait until next year to change it again.

How To Update Your Current Playback Area on a Mobile Device or Web Browser

You can also update your current YouTube TV location using a computer or mobile device. You can use either the YouTube TV app or a browser.

Open YouTube TV.

Click on your profile picture.

Click “Settings.”

Click “Area.”

Next to “Current Playback Area,” click “Update.”

Can I watch YouTube TV outside of my Home Area?

You can watch YouTube TV out of your Home Area. If you’re in a different physical location, then YouTube TV will show you your local affiliate networks.

Can you watch YouTube TV in multiple locations?

Yes, you can watch YouTube TV in multiple locations. However, you’ll have to check in at your Home Area at least every three months in order to see your local networks.

    The app is really bad. Sometimes it's just a black screen with sound. When I try to go back, the video plays but I can't do anything. After restarting the app multiple times, it finally works. I'll cancel YouTube TV and watch basketball somewhere else next month.

    Watching YouTube TV on my fire TV stick with its remote is a huge upgrade from using the app and chromecast. The app always had issues, which made watching a pain. But now with the fire stick and remote, it's much smoother. The glitches are minimal and the features are really advanced. And it came just in time because I was about to search for other alternatives.

    We've been using YouTube TV for a year. At first, we had some freezing and buffering issues, but those were fixed after contacting customer service. The experience of reaching out to customer service was fast and positive. We had been long-time users of Comcast cable, so it took some time to get used to YouTube TV. However, once we did, we preferred it and found the picture quality to be better than Comcast's. We absolutely love YTTV and won't be going back to Comcast.

    YouTube works really well on my phone with WI-FI, but it's a totally different story when I try to watch it on my TV. The picture is usually blurry and the video keeps pausing to buffer, sometimes every few minutes. Occasionally, it works fine and looks great, but that's not the usual case. Plus, the movies shown on the menu are different from what actually plays.

    I tried the trial to watch sports and record games easily, but the recorded games are usually low quality despite being labeled as 1080p. There are lags and distortions, even for nationally televised games. I attempted to change quality settings and rewind, but still experienced issues. It's frustrating considering the price and the reputation of the company. Additionally, features like key plays often do not function properly.

    I think this service is amazing! The video quality is incredible, and I love the unlimited DVR. By the way, if someone can't access live TV channels without tuning in, they probably haven't used the guide feature yet. I like that you can search and add shows to your library using the app on your phone. It's very user-friendly, and I'm happy to switch to You Tube TV!

    Many people have the same problem as me. While watching a show, the screen goes black and I receive a playback error if I exit and then re-enter the app because of the black screen. On my Samsung phone, everything keeps freezing, making it hard to use. How much longer will it take to fix this issue on phones? The screen shows only black with sound.
