Troubleshooting of YoWindow Weather and wallpaper

"Weather expired". Why? How to get rid of this message?

Step 1: Check Weather Station Reliability

    1. Open YoWindow.

    2. Access Location Properties:

        Go to the main menu.

        Select Location > Location Properties.

    3. Locate METAR Information:

        In the METAR section, find the "Code:" line.

        Click on the "www" link next to it to open the weather station’s page.

    4. Verify Weather Data:

        Look for the "Current weather observation" section on the page.

        Check the age of the weather data (e.g., "The report was made 29 minutes ago").

        If the age of the data is greater than 2 hours, the weather station may be unreliable.

    5. Report Unreliable Stations:

        Contact YoWindow support to report the unreliable weather station.

    6. Change Weather Station:

        Go back to Location Properties in YoWindow.

        Enter a different ICAO airport code to select a new weather station.

Step 2: Check for Networking Problems

    1. Verify Internet Connection:

        Ensure your internet connection is active and stable.

    2. Wait and Retry:

        Wait a couple of hours and try accessing YoWindow again.

        If the problem persists, it is likely not a temporary network issue.

Step 3: Update YoWindow Version

    1. Uninstall Current Version:

        Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.

        Find and uninstall YoWindow.

    2. Download Latest Version:

        Visit the YoWindow download page.

        Download and install the latest version.

    3. Verify Version:

        Open YoWindow.

        Go to the main menu.

        Select Help > About to check the version and build number.

Step 4: Ensure Correct Computer Time

    1. Check System Time:

        Right-click the clock on the Windows taskbar.

        Select Adjust date/time.

    2. Synchronize Time:

        Make sure the time zone is correctly set.

        Click Sync now under Synchronize your clock.

        Confirm that the displayed time matches the actual time.

Step 5: Investigate Special Cases

    1. Restart YoWindow:

        Close and reopen YoWindow to see if the issue resolves.

    2. Restart Computer:

        Restart your computer to refresh system settings and connections.

    3. Check for Conflicting Software:

        Ensure no other software is interfering with YoWindow’s network access or functionality.

    4. Contact YoWindow Support:

        If you continue experiencing issues, contact YoWindow support for further assistance.

YoWindow logo is too big. How can I make it smaller?

    1. Go to Options/Advanced

    2. Check "Show small YoWindow logo" mark.

    3. Click OK

When I'm trying to choose my location I see "Network error..."

That means YoWindow cannot connect to our server or the Internet.

This may be a temporary problem due to network issues on our side.

However, if you see this error all the time, most likely YoWindow is blocked by a Firewall software (usually Windows Firewall).

Follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem.

    1. Exit YoWindow. DO IT RIGHT: through main-menu/Program/Exit.

Otherwise YoWindow may just close the window, but not to exit.

    2. Turn your Firewall software temporary OFF.

    3. Run YoWindow again.

Check if you can choose a location this time.

If YoWindow works properly - you can select the location - you need to grant an Internet access to YoWindow in your firewall software.

Otherwise YoWindow will not be able to update the weather.
