ZDFtivi App - Kids' VOD Content

Reaching the ZDF children's and youth program on the go

The ZDFtivi app offers a variety of popular children's series and films from the ZDFtivi and KiKA programs on mobile devices. Like all ZDF online offerings, the ZDFtivi app is ad-free, without in-app purchases, and free.

The app is available for smartphones, tablets, and Android TV.

ZDFtivi App for Smartphones and Tablets:

- Wide range of public-service VOD content with full episodes: classic children's TV shows (e.g., Löwenzahn, 1, 2 or 3, logo!, PUR+), successful series (e.g., Mako Mermaids, Boys WG, Girls WG, Bibi Blocksberg, JoNaLu, My Friend Rabbit, Maya the Bee, Heidi), fairy tales, and children's films.

- Watch offline: almost all children's program content can be viewed offline. Videos can be saved for long journeys and watched without an internet connection.

- Create a profile for each child: easily switch between profiles without registration or login.

- Age-appropriate access: choose between ZDFchen mode (content for children up to 6 years) or ZDFtivi mode (all content without restrictions).

- Parental area: set app usage time, edit and delete profiles (multiple profiles can be created per device), and adjust privacy settings.

- Chromecast function.

- Watchlist: "My ZDFtivi" or "My ZDFchen" includes the watchlist and pre-saved content and shows for offline viewing. New content for saved shows will be displayed in "My ZDFtivi."

- logo! children's news: quick access in ZDFtivi mode.

- Accessible content: quick access on the homepage.

- Accessibility settings: choose to automatically play all videos with subtitles, audio description, or German sign language (if available).

Required permissions:

- Phone: for the app's offline mode.

- Phone statistics/ID: to read the Android version of the device (for Chromecast).

- Network status/Wi-Fi status: for Chromecast and to display the offline mode.

- Overlay other apps: required for Chromecast.

- Prevent standby mode: to prevent the app from entering standby mode or activating the screensaver while a video is playing.

General information:

- The ZDFtivi app is free, ad-free, and without in-app purchases, like all ZDF online offerings.

- The app provides a safe environment for children. Comments (optional) are reviewed by the ZDFtivi team and only moderated comments are approved.

- For use outside Wi-Fi, a flat rate is recommended to avoid high connection costs.

- Due to legal reasons, some ZDFtivi programs can only be viewed online as videos in Germany or in the German-speaking area (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) (geoblocking). A list of all globally available shows can be found here.
